PKB & RETD Korea Inks MoU To Develop LRT In Langkawi
Permodalan Kedah Bhd (PKB) and Royal Eco Train Development, South Korea (RETD Korea) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the development of a Light Rapid Transit (LRT) project in Langkawi.
The MoU was signed by Mohd Azad Jasmi, CEO of PKB, and Lee Changwook, CEO of RETD Korea, with Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor present as a witness.
At the MoU signing event held at Wisma Darul Aman, Azad expressed delight for the cooperation, noting its potential to accelerate Kedah's prosperity, with a special focus on Langkawi. He went on to say that, "Through an extensive feasibility study and a comprehensive proposal for the Maglev train, we are looking to transform the transportation landscape and fully leverage the potential of Greater Kedah."
According to Azad, this relationship with RETD Korea goes beyond routine document exchange and represents a shared desire to develop Kedah as a hub of innovation and progress.
Meanwhile, Lee underlined the project's commitment to sustainable development, which combines cutting-edge technology with environmental protection.
Both Azad and Lee promise that the project, which aims to improve Kedah's connection, enhance economic activity, improve tourism, and create jobs, will ultimately comply with the state's environmental and ecological goals.
