smart #3 ROI Opens In Malaysia, Launches Soon

Camouflaged smart #3 previewed recently by smart Malaysia (PRO-NET) in KL.
Following a surprise public teaser recently with a camouflaged unit, the smart #3 – the coupe-bodied twin to the smart #1 – now appears one step closer to being launched locally.
Earlier today, smart Malaysia (PRO-NET) posted a teaser of the new #3 model on its Facebook page, and CariCarz.com understands that registration of interest (ROI) for it are now opened. Local prospects can do so online via smart’s Malaysian website, or via authorised smart dealer outlets.
As a refresher, the #3 underpins the same Geely-developed Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform that supports both 400-volt and 800-volt ratings. This shared base perhaps explains the similar footprint the #3 occupies as the #1.
We sized one up in the flesh recently in Beijing during Auto China 2024. The #3 sits 4,440 MM long with a 2,785 MM wheelbase, 1,800 MM wide, and 1,600 MM tall. In short, the #3 sits slightly shorter in height but longer than the #1. A key differentiator here is of course the #3’s coupe-like roofline.

Chinese market smart #3 shown at the recent Auto China 2024 show in Beijing.
Like the #1 Premium and Brabus variants, the #3 also adopts a 66 kWh nickel manganese cobalt oxide (NMC) type battery pack that promises up to 440 KM (WLTP) range. Both single- and dual-motor setups will be available with up to 268 HP and 422 HP respectively.
From our brief gander at the left-hand-drive (LHD) Chinese market unit shown at Auto China 2024, we can confirm that the #3’s innards closely mirrors the #1. It features the same T-shaped dash design but gets circular air vents instead, plus the same 12.8-inch floating infotainment touchscreen.
With similar cabin design, expect similar levels ok kit and amenities to follow suit. Highlights of which seen in the #1 include 13-speaker Beats audio suite, panoramic glass roof, multi-colour cabin ambient lighting suite, and more.

On board, the smart #3 mirrors the #1 closely, but does feature round vents in its centre stack.
As for price, smart Malaysia hasn’t released any details yet, but our best guess is that the #3 will costs slightly more than the #1. For reference, the latter is presently tagged at RM189,000 (Pro), RM219,000 (Premium), and RM249,000 (Brabus).
We can also perhaps expect the same sort of after-sales packages offered in the #1 in the #3. Amongst them is an 8-year or 200,000 KM EV battery warranty, 8-year or 150,000 KM EV component warranty, plus a 4-year, unlimited mileage base vehicle warranty.
We’ll have more details once they are made available. In the meantime, what are your thoughts of this addition from smart Malaysia entering the market? Share your thoughts on which in the comments section below, as well as our social media pages…
