UMW Toyota Delivers 7,345 Vehicles in Apr 2024, YTD 3.7% Lower

UMW Toyota Motor has delivered 7,345 vehicles in April this year, with the year-to-date volume reduced by 3.7%.
UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) announced that it sold a total of 7,345 units of vehicles in April 2024, which comprises 7,213 units for Toyota and 132 units for Lexus. This feat also means that the automaker’s year-to-date (YTD) volume from January to April this year totals at 30,789 units – a slight 3.7% drop over last year’s YTD volume.
This decrease in sales is somewhat expected, with last year’s YTD sales figure boosted by several incentives, like the sales tax exemption imposed by the government as part of the post-pandemic economic recovery plan. The positive effect of these incentives was evident in the nation’s total new car sales volume, as MAA reported that a total of 799,731 units were delivered in 2023 alone—a new record high for the Malaysian automotive industry.

Limited to only 600 units, the all-new Toyota Yaris G Limited is priced at RM99,600 on-the-road.
As part of the move to adapt to this sales volume normalisation, UMWT is poised to further expand its product portfolio this year, with the latest model introduced by the firm being the limited-edition Toyota Yaris G Limited. Limited to only 600 units each tagged at RM99,600, this special hatchback features a unique aerokit with a two-tone paint job, plus several minor performance upgrades like improved dampers and chassis setup.

UMWT has also launched the new, sixth-gen Toyota Hiace SLWB window commercial van this year.
Besides that, UMWT has also expanded its commercial vehicle lineup this year by introducing the new, sixth-gen Toyota Hiace Super Long Wheelbase (SLWB) window van. Fully-imported (CBU) from Japan with a price tag of RM169,000, this 10-seater commercial van is exclusively powered by a 2.8-litre 4-cyl 1GD-FTV turbodiesel mill that is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission to deliver 177 PS and 450 NM.
To further enhance its customer service level, UMWT has also expanded its dealer network with the introduction of the new Laser Motor 4S centre in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.

As for their customers, UMWT has also launched the “Peace of Mind With Every Drive” promotion for the month of May. This offer includes rebates of up to RM7,500 and up to 100% financing across 13 selected Toyota models, including the newly-updated Toyota Yaris and the Vios, with monthly instalments starting from as low as RM658 and RM688, respectively.
