Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Deputy Minister Fuziah Salleh announced yesterday that around 180,000 commercial vehicles have yet to register under the Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS) 2.0.

She further noted that out of the 389,000 vehicles registered with the Road Transport Department, only 209,000 have enrolled in SKDS 2.0 while the remaining most likely not registered due to owners believing they are ineligible or finding the registration process challenging.

“You don’t need to own up to 20 vehicles to be eligible for the diesel subsidy. Even owners with one, two, or three vehicles can apply, provided they fall under the 23 specified categories,” she clarified.

To register, companies can visit https://mysubsidi.kpdn.gov.my and apply for a fleet card from their chosen oil company. Public transport and commercial vehicle owners approved by SKDS but who have not yet received a fleet card should keep diesel purchase receipts to claim cash refunds from the Finance Ministry.

Addressing the Penang Refuse Lorries Association’s request to include Rigid Roll-On Roll-Off (RORO) lorries in the MySubsidi Diesel system, Fuziah mentioned that the government currently recognizes 33 eligible types of public transport and commercial vehicles. However, vehicles not on this list can submit an appeal, which will be reviewed by an appeal committee.

“If there are any issues, formalising their concerns in writing is advisable. This allows us to organise engagement sessions between the association and the ministry for thorough discussions and to find the best solutions,” Fuziah added.
