L-R: Face-lifted (X247) 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLB 200 and GLB 250 4Matic.
The rounds of product updates by Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) continues this week with the arrival of the face-lifted (X247) 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLB range. The updated luxury compact crossover sees two variants announced – GLB 200 and GLB 250 4Matic.
Predictably much of the aesthetic changes inside and out mirrors what we saw done to the face-lifted V177 A-Class Sedan and H247 GLA crossover, both of which sharing similar MFA2 platform underpinnings as the GLB too.
Each variant now sports lightly redesigned LED headlights, grille, bumper, front apron, and contrast chrome (GLB 200) and gloss black (GLB 250 4Matic) inserts.
Typical of Mercedes-Benz, the base GLB 200 gets treated in Progressive Line trim, whereas the up-specced GLB 250 gets the sportier AMG Line treatment instead. The differing treatment is evident with wheel size – 18-inch in the GLB 200 versus 19-inch in the GLB 250 4Matic.

Moving into the cabin and, much like what we saw in both the A-Class Sedan and GLA, the most obvious change here is the deletion of the touch control pad in the centre stack. Retained are the 10.25-inch dual digital displays, but these now run on the latest MBUX software.
Other key updated on board include the addition of new USB-C charging port on top of increased charging speed from the existing USB ports. Apart from which, both models continue to see their cabin offer seats for seven across three rows plus a maximum boot space of up to 1,805 litres.

Under the hood, the changes here mirror the other MFA2-based models mentioned whereby the up-specced GLB 250 4Matic sees its 2.0-litre 4-cyl turbo petrol mill upgraded with a mild-hybrid (MHEV) belt-driven starter generator.
In the GLB 250 4Matic, said MHEV system adds a momentary boost of 13 HP and 150 NM to the existing mill’s 224 HP and 350 NM figures. Coupled with 4Matic all-wheel-drive (AWD) and 8-speed DCT box, 0-100 KM/H dashes take just 7 secs for the GLB 250 4Matic.
The base-spec GLB 200 continues to harness a 1.3-litre -4cyl turbo petrol mill as before, outputting 163 HP and 270 NM to the front wheels via a 7-speed DCT box. The variant sees 0-100 KM/H sprints done in 9.3 secs instead too.

As for safety, both variants share pretty much the same package, which includes Blind Spot Assist, Exit Warning Assist, Active Brake Assist, plus a Parking Package with a reverse camera.
Available for orders now, the refreshed 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLB 200 commands a retail price of RM290,888. The higher-specced 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLB 250 4Matic, on the other hand, is tagged at a higher RM341,888 figure instead.
Included in both figures is MBM’s usual 4-year, unlimited mileage warranty coverage.
