The Public Works Department (PWD) has assured motorists that the Jalan Cheras flyover section of the Setiawangsa-Pantai Expressway (SPE) is structurally sound, following a comprehensive inspection prompted by social media concerns.
The department’s Director-General Datuk Mohamad Zulkefly Sulaiman stated that no cracks or structural weaknesses were detected. PWD's engineers conducted a detailed evaluation, reinforcing their commitment to road safety and infrastructure maintenance.
This inspection is part of PWD's ongoing efforts to ensure the reliability of the nation's roadways and to maintain public confidence in the safety of Malaysia's infrastructure. The PWD's proactive measures come in response to viral social media posts suggesting potential damage to the flyover, which heightened public concern.

The department acted swiftly to dispel these fears, deploying a team of engineers to conduct a thorough investigation.
Datuk Zulkefly emphasised that the inspection process included visual assessments and technical evaluations to ensure the flyover's integrity. The findings confirmed that the structure is safe for continued use, and there are no immediate risks to motorists.
This incident highlights the importance of regular infrastructure checks and the responsiveness of authorities to public concerns. The PWD's prompt action serves as a reassurance to drivers that their safety is a top priority. KR
