Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has presented four Mercedes-EQ EVs to the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry.
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) recently presented four units of its all-electric Mercedes-EQ EVs to the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI).
Revealed via MBM’s official LinkedIn page, this initiative allows the ministry and its related agencies to experience the luxury and electric technology of the EQ EVs as a conduit to achieve its "Push for Net Zero" mission under the New Industry Master Plan (NIMP) 2030.
The four EQ EVs presented to MITI were the locally-assembled (CKD) Mercedes-Benz EQS 500 4Matic, the Mercedes-Benz EQE 580 4Matic SUV, the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic+, and the Mercedes-Benz EQE 500 4Matic SUV. Besides these four models, MBM’s all-electric lineup also features five other EQ models, bringing it to a total of nine luxurious all-electric vehicles.

Accepting the Mercedes-EQ EVs on behalf of MITI is the minister himself, YB Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Abdul Aziz, with all of them being given by MBM CEO and president Amanda Zhang.
“Mercedes-Benz is consistently pursuing a sustainable and integrated business strategy, with sustainability as our guiding principle. We will create the preconditions for a CO2-neutral new car fleet by 2039, while the pace of transformation is determined by market conditions and the needs of our customers,” said Zhang.

Besides the CO2-neutral car fleet by 2039, Zhang also added that MBM has launched the largest battery electric vehicle (BEV) portfolio in the segment, which features nine models, including two AMG-badged ones – the AMG EQE 53 and AMG EQS 53.
Ultimately, MBM’s deliberate push towards electromobility aligns with the government’s aspiration to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, as outlined in the 12th Malaysia Plan.
“We are confident that with the full support of our stakeholders, we will not only contribute to a cleaner environment but also drive economic growth within the industry,” Zhang added.
