The New Mercedes-AMG GT 63 Pro 4Matic+ Is A Track-Focused Coupe GT

The new Mercedes-AMG GT 63 Pro 4Matic+ breaks cover as the most track-focused second-gen AMG GT yet.
The second-gen Mercedes-AMG GT lineup has grown a little bit further today as Mercedes-Benz welcomes the new variant for its flagship coupe GT model, known as the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 Pro 4Matic+, at the ongoing 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Unlike its plug-in hybrid twin, the all-new AMG GT 63 Pro 4Matic+ promises to deliver an “even sportier driving experience.” To achieve this, Mercedes-AMG engineers have fitted the AMG GT 63 Pro 4Matic+ with several performance and aero parts to make it the most track-focused AMG GT model to date.

The AMG GT 63 Pro 4Matic+ benefits from a slew of active and passive aero parts.
The aero parts present here include its aggressive front fascia featuring larger air intakes and carbon fibre deflectors, the active AirPanel air control system that reduces the aerodynamic lift at the front axle by over 30 KG, as well as a fixed rear wing on its tailgate.

On top of those, the AMG GT 63 Pro 4Matic+ also comes with additional underbody air deflectors derived from the manic AMG One hypercar, a slew of carbon fibre parts and trims, and 21-inch forged alloy wheels that are wrapped in either the road-biased Michelin Pilot Sport 5 or the track-oriented Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tyres.

Mercedes-Benz didn’t touch much about the new AMG GT 63 Pro’s interior. But given it is a track-focused variant, we can expect it to come with the AMG Performance bucket seats, an AMG sports steering wheel, plus the usual MBUX infotainment suite comprising a 11.9-inch central infotainment screen and a larger 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

The new AMG GT 63 Pro 4Matic+ is still powered by the same twin-turbo V8 mill, albeit with a slight power boost.
Moving on to the mechanical upgrades, the AMG GT 63 Pro 4Matic+ is still powered by the same 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 mill that produces 603 HP and 849 NM, making it 26 HP and 50 NM more potent than the standard GT 63 model.
Said V8 mill is still mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission that sends all its power to the AMG-specific 4Matic+ all-wheel drive (AWD) setup. All in all, the new AMG GT 63 Pro 4Matic+ can accelerate from 0-100 KM/H in approximately 3.1 seconds, while its V-Max is capped at 317 KM/H.

To go with its improved V8 powertrain, the AMG GT 63 Pro 4Matic+ also gets a beefier brake setup, which Mercedes-Benz claims to have the biggest ceramic disc ever used by the automaker, measuring up to 419 MM in diameter. The massive ceramic rotors are mated with high-performance six-piston callipers at the front, while its airflow has been optimised to prevent excessive brake temperatures.
Rounding off the performance upgrades given to the new AMG GT 63 Pro 4Matic+ are the two additional radiators to increase its cooling efficiency for better on-track performance, a new active cooling system for the transfer case, an active ride control, and active rear-axle steering.

The all-new, second-gen Mercedes-AMG GT 63 Pro 4Matic+ is poised to hit selected international markets as early as next year. Given that Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) has yet to welcome the new second-gen AMG GT model, it might take a while before we get to see this track-focused GT coupe officially entering our market.
