BYD Opens First Store In Sri Lanka, Brings In New Model

Photo:BYD. Giant Electric cars manufacturer BYD has announced the opening of its first store in Sri Lanka. This big step is a part of the company's larger plan to increase its presence in foreign markets.
The Sealion 6, a new electric vehicle model from BYD, was launched into the Sri Lankan market in conjunction with the store's opening. With the success of the Dolphin, Seal, and Atto 3 models, this is BYD's fourth model to be introduced in the country.

The Sealion 6 is known in China as the Song Plus DM-i, and the new name is also used in Thailand and the Philippines.  The introduction of BYD to Sri Lanka could encourage the growth of EV infrastructure in addition to giving customers more options for electric cars. This action is anticipated to stimulate additional investments in charging infrastructure and associated services, thereby augmenting the regional EV market's overall growth.

For the record, BYD is the world's largest NEV manufacturer, selling 1,955,366 vehicles between January and July, a 28.83 percent increase year on year, according to CnEVPost data.
