Proton Launches New Regional Parts Centre In Sabah To Boost Spare Parts Delivery Time
After a successful debut of a similar facility in Sarawak last year, Proton is pleased to announce the official opening of its expanded regional parts center (RPC) in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. With this new addition, Proton's spare parts distribution and storage operations are improved and lead times are significantly reduced by 30%.
Sabah, which is Proton's third-highest-selling state in Malaysia, has an increasing demand for vehicles, but it will be effectively supplied thanks to increased output capacity from Proton Parts Centre Sdn Bhd (PPCSB) in West Malaysia and direct shipments from abroad.
The facility, which is situated in Inanam's business district, has a substantially larger floor area and can handle up to six parts containers at once. The centre can now store a three-month supply of parts thanks to its expanded capacity, which could shorten the time it takes for customers and dealerships to receive their deliveries.
Proton Edar Vice President of Sales and After Sales, Edmund Lim stated, “With growing customer demand over the past few years, Proton’s previous warehouse facilities in Sabah were overflowing with parts and running inefficiently due to a lack of space”
“The opening of this new facility in Kota Kinabalu will complement its counterpart in Kuching and both will function collectively as parts distribution centres for after sales parts and components for East Malaysia. This overall improvement in storage has created a buffer for demand surges and fluctuations, enabling us to increase parts throughput and as of today, we are rapidly addressing the backlog of orders from our dealers and customers in this market.”
Proton Parts Centre Sdn Bhd (PPCSB) has implemented a new warehouse management system throughout all of its locations, greatly increasing the company's operational efficiency.

The new RPC's daily delivery capacity increased significantly as a result of this upgrade, going from 180 to 300 lines in July alone. The company plans to expand even more, with a target capacity of 400 lines by September. By the end of the year, the estimated 1.5 times growth in stock value, or RM9 million, will be supported by the increased storage capacity from 5,000 to 8,500 bins made possible by the expanded warehouse space.
