JPJ Partners TNG To Facilitate RFID Application Tags For VEP

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has announced a partnership with Touch 'n Go (TNG) to update the National Registration Identity Card (NRIC) information of Singapore vehicle owners.
This collaboration is an effort to make the application of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags for the Foreign Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) easier, which can be done through the TNG eWallet application by selecting the "VEP JPJ" menu.
Owners of Singapore-registered vehicles who use the TNG eWallet Singapore app are required to update it to the most recent version, which is either iOS version 1.8.37, Android version 1.8.35.1, or Huawei version 1.8.35.1.
According to RTD director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli, TNG is also helping owners of vehicles registered in Singapore to update their TNG eWallet information.
He said that starting on September 23, the facilitator will be available for tag registration in Johor at the Southern Region Road Transport Academy in Larkin and the RTD office in Taman Daya.
In May, Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced that all foreign-registered vehicles entering Malaysia via land from Singapore would be required to use VEPs beginning October 1.

VEP is enforced under subsection 66H of the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333), which makes it illegal to drive a foreign-registered vehicle without a permit before entering or while in Malaysia.
Motorists who fail to do so may face a fine of up to RM2,000 or imprisonment for up to six months.
