Previewed: Facelifted BMW X5 xDrive50e M Sport CKD – RM530K Est.

The facelifted BMW X5 xDrive50e M Sport CKD has been previewed today, set to be launched later this year at an estimated RM530,000 price.
Previewed today at BMW Group Malaysia’s newly-launched Auto Bavaria Balakong Retail.Next showroom is the facelifted BMW X5 xDrive50e M Sport SUV. Set to be locally assembled (CKD) at BMW’s Kulim facility, this plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUV is poised to make its official landfall in our market later this year.

Based on the fourth-gen X5 model (codenamed G05), the facelifted X5 xDrive50e gets a slew of minor equipment updates while coming with the M Sport package as standard. Visually, the new X5 gets an updated front face, featuring slimmer LED headlights with X-shaped DRLs, while its iconic kidney grille now comes with a BMW Iconic Glow LED surround light.

At the rear, the facelifted X5 gets a tweaked rear bumper design, while its LED taillights come with a new light signature. Besides the sportier M Sport body kit, this midsize SUV also rides on new 21-inch M light alloy V-spoke design 915 M Bi-colour wheels. Furthermore, the new X5 is offered with four exterior colour options – Black Sapphire, Manhattan Green, Mineral White, and Skyscraper Grey.

The facelift treatment continues as we get inside the new X5, as the SUV is now primed with more modern equipment. Up front, the cabin gets a new 14.9-inch BMW Curved Display with a fully digital instrument cluster. Powered by the latest BMW OS 8.5, this system includes both the BMW Live Cockpit Professional and BMW instrument panel, which support the full range of interaction methods like the iDrive Controller, voice, touch, or the optional gesture control.
Aside from that, both the ambient lighting system featuring a full-width light bar with a crystalline surface and the Harman Kardon Surround Sound System are included as standard. Topping off the cabin equipment list is the plush Merino leather upholstery that comes in two colour options – Black and Tartufo.

The X5 is first-time being offered with the xDrive50e variant, featuring a peppier and improved PHEV setup
The biggest improvement for the facelifted X5 is in its powertrain setup, where the xDrive50e M Sport model gets a much-improved PHEV setup. Consisting of a familiar 3.0-litre straight-six petrol mill that is paired with an electric motor, this new setup boasts a higher total system output of 489 HP and 700 NM – allowing this midsize SUV to finish the century sprint in just 4.8 seconds.

The electric capabilities of this updated PHEV setup have also been improved, with its maximum EV range bumped up to 110 KM (WLTP), while the battery pack now supports 7.4 kW AC charging. At this rate, the X5's 25.7-kWh battery pack can be charged from 0 to 100% in just 4.5 hours.
On the safety front, the update treatment sees the new X5 gain several new features. Previously offered as options, features like BMW Comfort Access, Driving Assistant Professional, and Parking Assistant Professional are now available as standard on the facelifted X5.

Set to be launched later this year, the facelifted BMW X5 xDrive50e M Sport CKD comes with a tentative price tag of RM530,000
