Gemilang Set To Supply Dubai RTA With 76 Double-Decker and E-Buses

Gemilang International Limited (GML), a leading Malaysia-based bus and bus body manufacturer, has signed a contract with Al-Futtaim Auto & Machinery Company (FAMCO). Through which, the firm is set to deliver 76 Volvo double-decker buses to the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
The contract signing, which took place on Oct 3, 2024, in Johor Bahru, was witnessed by Malaysia’s Minister of Transport, Anthony Loke Siew Fook.
Anthony Loke praised the collaboration, stating, “This partnership underscores Malaysia’s growing capabilities on the international stage. GML’s expertise in manufacturing high-quality vehicles is once again proven through this project.

He also highlighted the simultaneous handover of Volvo BZL electric buses, manufactured by GML for FAMCO, which align with global trends toward eco-friendly, sustainable transport solutions.
The buses to be delivered will feature Volvo chassis, combined with GML’s innovative aluminium superstructure using Constellium’s Aluminium Alloy and Bolted System Bus Body Technology. This combination is expected to provide superior safety, efficiency, and longevity, meeting the high standards set for Dubai’s public transportation system.

According to Pang Jun Jie, Executive Director of GML, the company takes pride in securing this contract, noting its continued expansion effort into international markets. Furthermore, the contract includes the provision of Volvo BZL electric buses, showcasing GML’s role in promoting sustainable urban transport.
During the ceremony, GML also unveiled its latest innovation: an electric factory bus which is set for delivery to local customers in the near future. This bus reflects GML’s commitment to quality and sustainability, further positioning the company as a leader in the global bus manufacturing industry.
