Stellantis Malaysia officially launched the new Leapmotor C10 locally earlier today at The Exchange Mall, TRX.
After being previewed to local press last month, the Leapmotor C10 EV crossover SUV was officially launched earlier today at The Exchange Mall, TRX by brand principals Stellantis Malaysia. Besides price, a few other details were also revealed following today’s launch.
Notably, Malaysia stands as the first market in the region to launch the new luxury EV crossover SUV from said new Chinese EV-making upstart supported by the global automaking giant. Locally, just one variant of the Leapmotor C10 is on offer with four exterior paintjob options available.
Notably, Malaysia stands as the first market in the region to launch the Leapmotor C10.
As a refresher, the Leapmotor C10 is positioned a D-segment offering, and it has the footprint for which too – 4,739 MM long with a 2,825 MM wheelbase, 1,900 MM wide and 1,680 MM tall. However, unlike most typical D-segment SUVs, it offers just two-rows of seats for five.
Underpinning a proprietary Leapmotor platform and architecture, the Leapmotor C10 packs a 69.9 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) type battery pack that juices a single rear-mounted e-motor that offers 218 PS and 320 NM. This setup enables 0-100 KM/H sprints in 7.5 secs too.
From today's launch, details such as charging speeds were released and, typical of a Chinese EV, AC charging speeds are limited at just 6.6 kW, whilst DC rapid-charging speeds are capped at 84 kW instead.
Critically, said battery offers up to 424 KM of WLTP-rated range. As for charging, the Leapmotor C10 is typically Chinese in a sense where its AC charging input is capped at just 6.6 kW, which sees full re-charges attained in just a little over six hours.
As for DC rapid-charging, the C10’s architecture can draw up to a maximum of 84 kW. At this speed, the 69.9 kWh battery pack mentioned early can be re-charged from 30-80% in roughly 30 minutes.
Stellantis Malaysia also emphasised that Malaysia-bound units of the C10 benefit with special chassis tuning done by Stellantis in Italy at the same provig ground used by Maserati.
As this is an export version, Malaysia-bound Leapmotor C10 units benefits with a chassis that’s specially tuned and refined by Stellantis’ chassis tuning team rooted in Balocco, Italy – where the famed Maserati brand’s proving ground is also situated.
We’ve detailed much of the exterior and interior design prior, but it’s worth refreshing your memory that it boasts full-LED lighting front and aft with connecting lightbars spanning across both front and rear fascia, distinct 20-inch ‘Trident’ alloys, and an overall minimalist look.
No Apple CarPlay or Android Auto is available, but the infotainment touchscreen does boast built-in satellite navigation, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity functions.
Inside, the cabin is also equally minimalistic in design, though the dash is furnished with two digital displays – a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel and a massive 14.6-ich central infotainment touchscreen. The latter is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip too.
Said infotainment does NOT come loaded with either Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, but does instead feature built-in satellite navigation function, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, and it’s paired with an 840-watt 12-speaker surround audio suite.
Besides basics such as seven airbags and a 360-degree parking camera, the Leapmotor C10 also boasts Level 2 ADAS package comprised of 17 advanced driving assistance features in total.
As reported, the C10’s cabin also sees its seats – which also boasts power-adjustability, heating and ventilation functions up front - lined in a “baby-friendly” and liquid-resistant ‘Oeko-Tex’ faux leather upholstery. Buyers can opt between two colour schemes for said upholstery too.
And apart from the usually expected amenities such as dual-zone automatic climate control with built-in PM2.5 filter, wireless charging pad, USB charging ports, and ambient cabin lighting, the C10 does also boast things like a panoramic glass roof, NFC card key, powered tailgate, and more.
Unlike the domestic Chinese market version however, the Malaysia-bound Leapmotor C10 does not pack a LIDAR sensor for its ADAS package detailed.
As for safety and driving assistance, the Leapmotor C10 boasts basics such as seven airbags lining its cabin, and extras in the form of 360-degree parking camera plus Level 2 advanced driving assistance system (ADAS) features primed.
Highlights of the latter package includes 17 functions altogether. Amongst them are adaptive cruise control, intelligent speed assist, traffic jam assist, forward collision warning with AEB, as well as lane departure warning and keeping assist with emergency lane-keeping, amongst many.
No third-row seats here but the Leapmotor does boasts a massively cavernous boot offering a standard volume of 435 litres.
If all this, plus the massively practical standard boot space of 435 litres available, tickles your fancy, then you might want to place a booking for the Leapmotor C10 through any of Stellantis Malaysia’s 18 authorised Leapmotor point of sales established thus far.
As for price, the Leapmotor C10 commands a price tag of RM159,000. However, customers who place bookings for the C10 before Nov 30 will benefit with a special introductory price of just RM149,000 – RM10,000 less than the initial RRP mentioned.
Though priced officially at RM159,000, bookings placed before Nov 30 benefit with a special introductory price of RM149,000 instead. Included here is an 8-year/160,000 KM EV battery warranty and a 6-year/150,000 KM vehicle warranty.
Included in said prices is a 6-year or 150,000 KM vehicle warranty, as well as an 8-year or 160,000 KM EV battery warranty. Stellantis Malaysia also adds that service intervals are fixed at one-year or 20,000 KM as well.
