MIROS Child Seat Survey : To Assess Use Of Child Car Seats Among Malaysians

In order to better understand the factors influencing child seat usage and how to improve child safety in vehicles, the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) has released a new survey aimed at measuring how many Malaysian drivers use child car seats. The survey also aims to gauge public readiness for the enforcement of the child seat law.
The participant's ownership of a child seat, frequency of use, and the steps the government would need to take to encourage them to use it more frequently are among the questions that MIROS seeks to answer.
An RM8 Touch 'n Go eWallet voucher will be given to the first 300 participants. The survey can be accessed by visiting the MIROS website or by scanning the QR code in the above image.

Malaysia's adoption of car seat laws has been prompted by growing concerns about the safety of children in Malaysian vehicles. In order to reduce the risks associated with traffic accidents, such regulations are essential. The importance is not just in following the law, but also in realizing that car seats are our kids' first line of protection in the event of an accident.
For many years, MIROS has promoted the use of child seats to keep kids safe in cars. In 2022, the organization most recently collaborated with the ministry of transportation on the MyCRS subsidy program. Malaysian child seat usage is still remarkably low, most likely as a result of lack of enforcement.
Going out on the road every day, whether for work or play, without making sure my children are safe is a big source of conflict for me as a mother. Of course, until a terrible accident occurs, not everyone would consider child car seats to be that important. The problem is that child car seats are typically an afterthought, an optional accessory that isn't required.
