MyDigital ID For MyJPJ Postponed, Not Cancelled

MyDigital ID Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Mohd Mirza Mohd Noor claims that the integration of the MyDigital ID with the MyJPJ application has only been delayed rather than discarded.
Mirza claimed that misquotations in some media outlets about the use of MyDigital ID by Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook had left the public perplexed and alarmed. Instead of being cancelled, Mirza further clarified that the postponement is a part of the plan to ensure the feature's success and improve user experience. “The minister has just announced the postponement of the implementation of the ‘Single Login’ feature, which allows users to log in with only one account. During this suspension period, users can still choose to use their existing MyJPJ login or MyDigital ID to access the application,” he said in a statement today.

Malaysians initially learned that logging into the MyJPJ app was a new requirement that would be implemented on October 10, 2024. Many people took to social media to express their concerns about the app's implementation.
Netizens complained that it would be inconvenient for senior citizens who were mostly unfamiliar with technology, on top of the system's lag.
The original deadline of October 10th for users to register for MyDigital ID in order to access the MyJPJ app was postponed until a later date, according to Transport Minister Anthony Loke, in response to the uproar and confusion caused by this.
Additionally, Loke revealed that his Ministry had not been consulted when the pop-up alert was added to the app, adding that there had been no formal statement about the alleged deadline from the Road Transport Department (JPJ).

Some may find some relief in this announcement because, in addition to providing a more straightforward verification process, MyDigital ID also improves the security of online transactions by using a cryptography-based system that has been certified by the Malaysian Common Criteria Evaluation and Certification (MyCC) and is recognized internationally at the EAL3+ level.
