DHL Appointed To Manage Stellantis’ Parts Distribution Centre In Malaysia
To oversee its regional parts distribution centre in Malaysia, one of the biggest automakers in the world, Stellantis, has appointed DHL Supply Chain, a leader in contract logistics worldwide, as its logistic partner.
In addition to strengthening Malaysia's position as a key automotive hub, this will help Stellantis' aim to expand its presence throughout the Asia Pacific region.
Situated in a Malaysian Free Trade Zone, the 18,000 square meters warehouse is built to effectively deliver parts and offer seamless after-sales service throughout 20 countries in the Asia Pacific region, including important markets like Malaysia.
The hub seeks to improve component availability and shorten lead times for all Stellantis brands, including Citroen, Alfa Romeo, Jeep, RAM, and Peugeot.
Olivier Torchet, Head of Parts & Services, India & Asia Pacific, Stellantis said, “Stellantis is proud to welcome DHL as our logistic partner and we are pleased to have a globally renowned leader in logistics for warehousing operations at our soon to be launched Regional Parts Distribution Centre in Port Klang, Malaysia
“DHL’s exceptional level of expertise and reliability in logistics and warehousing aligns seamlessly with our goals for reliable and fast parts distribution, allowing us to provide the highest standards of after-sales support to the region
“Together, we will drive operation efficiency to set a new level of service excellence that not only strengthens Stellantis’ growing footprint but also reinforces Malaysia’s role as a regional automotive hub.”
Mario Lorenz, Managing Director, DHL Supply Chain Malaysia added, “We are witnessing significant growth and transformation in Malaysia’s automotive industry, now Southeast Asia’s second-largest market.
“This growth offers DHL a chance to play a critical role in strengthening the supply chain for automakers in the country.
“With Malaysia’s commitment to the ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA), a regional hub here gives our customers a competitive cost structure and well-developed infrastructure to reach the other lucrative ASEAN markets.
By combining our logistics expertise with Stellantis’ visionary approach, we aim to deliver tailored solutions that boost the industry’s competitiveness and support Malaysia’s goal of becoming a regional automotive hub. This partnership not only reinforces our commitment to supporting Malaysia’s automotive advancements, but it also strengthens the leadership positions of both Stellantis and DHL in our respective markets.”
Malaysia is home to approximately 640 significant automobile manufacturers which manufacture a variety of components. Electric vehicle (EV) incentives from the government also align with DHL Group's Strategy 2030, which focusses on new energy, particularly EV transportation, as a major area of expansion for the business.
