KLIA Goes Electric With Grab’s EV Fleet
Grab Malaysia has taken a bold step toward greener transport by launching its first electric vehicle (EV) fleet dedicated to airport transfers which is currently available exclusively for departing passengers at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
Unveiled by Transport Minister Anthony Loke, the service, bookable via the Grab app, features the BYD M6, a spacious seven-seater electric MPV with ample luggage room, tailored for airport travellers.
To make this happen, Grab is teaming up with Yinson GreenTech, BYD Sime Motors, and Power-Up Tech (P.UP) to help speed up EV adoption in the country. Grab Malaysia’s Director of Country Operations and Mobility Rashid Shukor called it a big step towards making ride-hailing cleaner and more eco-friendly.
A dedicated EV Lounge has also been introduced at KLIA, offering travellers a comfortable waiting space that aligns with the green mobility theme and enhance the passenger experience.

Loke applauded the initiative, saying that strong public-private collaboration is crucial to achieving the goals set out in the National Transport Policy 2019–2030 and building a more sustainable transport ecosystem.
"I hope this launch will serve as a catalyst for the wider adoption of EVs across Malaysia—not just in the Klang Valley, but also in other major cities such as Johor Bahru, Penang, Kuching, and Kota Kinabalu,” he says, urging more industry players to help drive Malaysia’s decarbonisation effort.
