PDRM Collects RM1.88 Million In Two Days From 50% Discount Campaign
Since 1990, over 43 million traffic summonses amounting to RM6.5 billion remains unpaid nationwide. This represents 33% of the 135.9 million summonses issued by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), with a cumulative value exceeding RM20.38 billion, says Bukit Aman’s Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) Director, Yusri Hassan Basri.
In 2024 alone, 4.3 million summonses totaling RM646.2 million have been issued, with most infractions related to traffic obstruction and disregarding traffic signals, Yusri shared in a media briefing during his visit to the Kuala Lumpur JSPT office at the Tun HS Lee traffic police station.
He was accompanied by Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Rusdi Isa and Kuala Lumpur JSPT Head Zamzuri Isa, where they oversaw the discount initiative on traffic summonses, offering reductions of up to 50% at the station.
The initiative, led by the Kuala Lumpur police, has already seen the settlement of 17,002 summonses in just two days, amounting to RM1.88 million — primarily via cashless payment methods. For added convenience and crowd management, JSPT has opened 19 counters for summons checking and payments, including 14 e-payment kiosks, accessible throughout the campaign period from 5 to 9 Nov.
Special accommodations include designated counters for people with disabilities, senior citizens, and pregnant women. Yusri further encouraged the public to settle outstanding summonses promptly to avoid more severe penalties in the future.
However, the discount offer excludes summonses tied to certain severe offences, such as accident summon, non-compoundable summon, court order summon, heavy vehicle summon, dangerous driving & que cutting summons, emergency lane usage summon, traffic red light summon, double line overtaking summon and vehicle exhaust modification summon.
