Diolko LRT Cargo Delivery Pilot Launched In Klang Valley
Asia’s first cargo delivery project using Light Rail Transit (LRT) services is now available in Malaysia. This service operated by Diolko Logistics Malaysia Sdn Bhd kicks-off in Klang Valley in collaboration with Prasarana Malaysia Berhad. This initiative aims to improve logistics efficiency and support the country’s green transition by reducing carbon emissions and traffic congestion.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke highlighted that the project aligns with Malaysia’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals and demonstrates the feasibility of using urban rail systems for goods delivery.
"I am confident this business model will attract interest from multinational companies and alternative logistics providers," Loke said during a visit to Diolko's hub at Putra Heights LRT Station.
Yoann Gueguen, the CEO of Diolko, stated that the firm presently handles 2,500 packages each month but intends to increase to 75,000 packages in six months. By leveraging the Rapid KL rail network and integrating electric vehicles and virtual hub technology, the project reduces carbon emissions by 70% and addresses urban traffic issues.
Rail transit and effective last-mile solutions enable delivery at the pilot's major LRT stations, including Putra Heights, Ara Damansara, and Awan Besar. This project not only provides environmentally friendly logistics, but it also lays the groundwork for future growth into other Malaysian and ASEAN cities.
Diolko also envisions cross-border logistics opportunities, such as linking Johor Bahru and Singapore’s rail systems, creating new business possibilities and furthering its goal of revolutionising urban logistics.
The standard price for next-day delivery service by Diolko for parcels weighing up to 3kg is RM5.30.
