Launched: Omoda C9 by Jaecoo – 2 CKD Variants, From RM168K

The all-new Omoda C9 midsize coupe SUV breaks cover with two CKD variants priced from RM168,800 onwards.
Following a lengthy teaser campaign, Jaecoo Malaysia has finally ushered in its latest model today, the Omoda C9. Being the first Omoda model to be launched under the Jaecoo brand in Malaysia, this locally-assembled (CKD) midsize luxury coupe SUV is available in two variants, with prices starting from RM168,800 onwards.

Regardless of variants, the local-spec Omoda C9 is powered by the same 2.0-litre 4-cyl turbocharged petrol mill rated at 257 HP and 400 NM, which is then mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. What separates the two variants are the driveline option, with the baseline 2WD model getting a front–wheel drive (FWD) setup, while the top-spec AWD model comes with Jaecoo’s proprietary ARDIS all-wheel drive (AWD) system.

Combined with its healthy 165 MM ground clearance, as well as the adaptive suspension with front MacPherson Struts and rear multi-link assemblies, the range-topping Omoda C9 AWD comes with seven selectable drive and terrain modes, granting it with some off-road driving capabilities just like its smaller stablemate, the Jaecoo J7.

In terms of dimension, C9 is quite a large SUV, measuring 4,775 MM long, 1,920 MM wide, and a wheelbase of 2,800 MM—making it slightly larger than the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro. Some key design highlights include its distinctive LED headlights with L-shaped DRLs, a diamond matrix front grille, full-width LED taillights, the sporty coupe SUV bodystyle with rakish rear windscreen, flushed door handles, and stylish 20-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels shod in Michelin tyres.

On-board equipment is also not too shabby for the locally-assembled C9, as it gets things like the massive 24.6-inch single panel HD display housing both the digital instrumentation and central infotainment touchscreen (the latter comes with wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay support), a 14-speaker Sony audio system, a slew of soft-touch materials and plush upholstery, a triple-zone climate control with built-in fragrance and air purifier, heated and ventilated front seats, power-adjustable rear seats, a 50-watt wireless charging pad, a full panoramic sunroof, and any more.
Thanks to its strictly two-row, five-seater layout, the C9 boasts tons of cabin and cargo spaces, with the latter measuring 660 litres as standard and can be expandable up to a maximum of 1,783 litres when the rear seats are folded. More impressive is the fact that the C9 still has enough space to house a full-size spare wheel—an increasingly rare commodity in many new cars nowadays.

Proudly assembled at Chery Corporate Malaysia’s Shah Alam CKD plant, the all-new Omoda C9 retails at RM168,800 for the baseline 2WD variant, while the range-topping AWD variant commands a higher price of RM188,800. Included with said prices is a 7-year or 150,000 KM vehicle warranty provided by Jaecoo Malaysia.

On top of that, Jaecoo Malaysia is also offering a special early-bird promotion of a 10-year or up to 1 million KM extended warranty for the engine and suspension system. This special package will be eligible for all current bookings and bookings placed before Dec 8, 2024. Deliveries for the C9 AWD variant are slated to begin from Jan 2025 onwards, whereas the 2WD variant will come afterwards.
