Previewed: Jetour Dashing & X70 Plus – Launching in Q3 2024

Chinese automaker Jetour makes its inaugural local debut at the MAS 2024, previewing both the Dashing & X70 Plus SUVs.
Chinese automaker Jetour has made its maiden local debut by showcasing both its upcoming SUV crossover models at the ongoing Malaysia Autoshow 2024 (MAS 2024), namely the Jetour Dashing and X70 Plus. This Chery sub-brand arrives locally under the newly-formed Jetour Automobile Malaysia – a separate entity from Chery Auto Malaysia.

Jetour Dashing C-segment SUV Crossover
Starting with the Jetour Dashing, this C-segment SUV crossover stood as the sportier model of the two, featuring a more sporty and less boxy design compared to its three-row sibling. Dimension-wise, the Dashing is quite comparable with some C-SUV models on sale here in Malaysia, measuring 4,590 MM long, 1,900 MM wide, 1,685 MM tall, and having a wheelbase of 2,720 MM.

On board, the Dashing comes brimmed with a slew of comfort and modern amenities. Key highlights include leather seat upholstery, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a 50 W wireless charging pad, and a dual 10.25-inch screen that houses both the digital instrument cluster and the infotainment system that supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Jetour X70 Plus midsize SUV
For right-hand drive (RHD) markets like Malaysia, the Dashing comes solely in the full-ICE version, featuring a 1.5-litre 4-cyl turbo-petrol mill. Rated at 156 HP and 230 NM, said mill is mated to a 6-speed DCT automatic gearbox that helps to facilitate power delivery to its front wheels (FWD).

Moving on to the next model, the X70 Plus is being positioned as a more practical model of the two. Not to be confused with a certain local-badged C-SUV, the Jetour X70 Plus is a midsize SUV that features three rows of seats, with the displayed model here at the auto show featuring a seven-seat configuration.

Featuring a more conventional boxy SUV design compared to the Dashing, the X70 Plus measures 4,590 MM long, 1,900 MM wide, 1,685 MM tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,720 MM. Unlike the international-spec model shown in our previous report, the model displayed at the auto show appears to boast a sportier trim level, featuring a revamped front grille design, a slew of red accents, and quad tailpipes while riding on sizable 19-inch black-hued wheels.

As for the innards, the Malaysian-spec X70 Plus gets an almost similar cabin layout and equipment list as the Dashing. Key highlights present here include the dual 10.25-inch display, the same wireless charging pad, a six-way power adjustable driver’s seat, and many more. On top of that, the X70 Plus also gains a panoramic sunroof, a memory function for the driver seat, and many more.
Powertrain-wise, the Malaysian-bound is exclusively powered by the same 1.5-litre 4-cyl turbo-petrol mill used on the Dashing. Rated at 156 HP and 230 NM, power is sent to the front wheels (FWD) via a 6-speed DCT automatic gearbox.

As we mentioned earlier, both the new Jetour Dashing and X70 Plus are poised to be launched in the second half of 2024, with the nearest estimation being around Q3 this year. Both models will initially arrive fully-imported (CBU) from China, with localisation plans in both semi- (SKD) and complete knock-down (CKD) forms set to follow up in the near future.
Besides both the X70 Plus and Dashing, Jetour Malaysia is also planning to introduce the rugged Jetour T2 into our market. Also known as the Jetour Traveller in its native Chinese market, the T2 is the brand’s rugged, off-road-ready midsize SUV that is slated to arrive in Malaysia some time later in Q1 2025, with its semi-electrified plug-in hybrid (PHEV) to follow suit later on.
