Afeela 1 EV Bookings Open In North America: Starting at RM404K

Sony Honda Mobility Inc. (SHM) unveiled its first model under the Afeela brand, the Afeela 1, at the ongoing CES 2025. The Afeela 1 will be produced in a state-of-the-art plant in Ohio, with sales in California expected to begin in 2025 and deliveries anticipated by mid-2026.
Interested buyers can already make reservations for the Afeela 1 with a fully refundable US$200 (RM900) deposit. The Afeela 1 will be priced from US$89,900 (RM404,000) for the base Origin trim, while the Signature trim starts at US$102,900 (RM463,000). Included is a three-year complimentary subscription to selected features and services.

The Afeela 1 aims to redefine mobility by integrating advanced software and high-performance hardware to create an intelligent and interactive driving experience. The vehicle will come equipped with SHM’s proprietary Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) powered by 40 sensors, including cameras, LiDAR, and radars, to monitor surroundings. All of which are powered by an ECU with 800 TOPS of computing power and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Inside, the Afella 1 comes equipped with the Afeela Personal Agent, an interactive voice assistant that allows natural communication with the vehicle. This agent can provide activity suggestions, control in-car functions, and create a personalized travel experience.

The cabin will also feature displays at every seat, delivering a variety of apps and content supported by Sony’s 360 Spatial Sound Technology. Proprietary noise-canceling features ensure a quiet environment, enhancing the immersive audio experience. The Signature trim will come with larger wheels, a rear entertainment system, and a Center Camera Monitoring System (C-CMS).

The Afeela 1 is engineered with agility and stability in mind, made possible by a 3D Motion Management System that optimises the motor, brakes, and suspension, ensuring precision handling and comfort on diverse road surfaces. Noise and vibration reduction technology will also be incorporated to further enhance the premium experience.
The exterior features clean lines and minimalistic surfaces, while the interior follows an “Oval” concept, blending sophistication with comfort. The interior will feature 70% usage of sustainable materials from plant-derived and recycled materials while recycled materials are also used in the vehicle body’s steel and chassis.

Colour options offered are Tidal Gray, Calm White and Core Black. According to SHM, the Afeela 1 will feature a charging port compatible with Tesla’s Supercharging Network, and promises a driving range of up to 300 miles (approx. 483 KM).
Deliveries in the right hand drive (RHD) Japanese market are also planned for 2026.
