Chery Partners with DeepSeek AI for Aimoga Robotics Team

Chery’s Aimoga Robotics R&D team has formed a technical partnership with DeepSeek to leverage their advanced AI models.
Chery Aimoga Robotics' research and development team has formed a technical partnership with DeepSeek to leverage their advanced artificial intelligence (AI) models. This partnership will see the Wuhu-based automaker enhance the voice interaction capabilities of its Aimoga robots with the help of DeepSeek’s AI technology.
As global tech giants vie for AI computing dominance, the Chery Aimoga robotics team recognises DeepSeek's utilisation of NVIDIA H800 chips, providing complete transparency in model weights and training logs under the MIT open-source protocol. This cost-effective and open approach aligns perfectly with Chery's research and development philosophy: 'technology for the benefit of all.'

From this partnership, the Chery Aimoga robotics team has integrated DeepSeek’s V2, V3, and R1 open-source models into its robot cloud platform, which promises to improve the interaction systems for these robots. Real-world trials of Chery's robot hardware are set to begin soon, moving beyond simulations and controlled environments to assess performance, functionality, and reliability in real-world conditions.
Besides these robots, the Chery Aimoga R&D team also plans to strengthen its collaboration with DeepSeek on other various domains, potentially unlocking new possibilities for innovations.
Chery’s partnership with DeepSeek is not its first venture into AI, as the Wuhu-based automaker previously collaborated with other tech giants like Baidu and iFlytek since 2010. With the launch of its bespoke intelligent cockpit system, the CheryLion, back in 2018, it marked Chery’s official full entry into the AI domain.

More on the robotics team, Chery has announced the mass production plan for Aimoga robots back in 2024, with an investment of CNY 100 million (RM60 million). Once the production commences, the automaker plans to begin selling humanoid robots in its overseas markets in the first half of 2025, initially focusing on car sales assistance. This move is also in line with the automaker’s aim to integrate the development of the internet and automotive intelligence to create an intelligent mobility ecosystem centered on human-robot-vehicle collaboration.

Speaking of international markets, 2024 also saw Chery Group achieving an annual export figure of 1,144,588 units, up 21.4% from the previous year. In total, the Wuhu-based marque shifted a record-breaking total of 2,603,916 vehicles in 2024 alone, a 38.4% year-on-year increase from 2023.
