New Kia EV4 Makes Global Debut at 2025 Kia EV Day

Making its global debut alongside the Concept EV2 at the 2025 Kia EV Day is the all-new Kia EV4 fastback & hatchback.
Besides the quirky Concept EV2, the 2025 Kia EV Day also saw the Korean automaker unveiling its latest model to the world for the first time, namely the Kia EV4. We’ve already seen the exterior bits of this new EV previously, but this time around we can delve deeper into Kia’s new all-electric fastback and hatch.

And yes, for those who don’t know, the Kia EV4 will be available in both fastback and hatch bodystyles, with the duo sharing the same wheelbase that spans 2,820 MM long. Also shared across both models are the powertrain specs, which follows the same convention laid down by the EV3 crossover last year.

For starters, the EV4 will underpin a 400-volt version of Hyundai’s E-GMP architecture, with the two baseline variants using the same single, front-mounted (FWD) electric motor rated at 201 HP (150 kW). Not to upset enthusiasts, Kia did promise that a dual-motor GT version will follow suit sometime later in the future.
The low-spec EV4 will get a smaller 58.3-kWh battery pack that is capable of delivering up to 430 KM in a single full charge for the fastback model, while the hatch gets a slightly discounted maximum range of 410 KM. Regardless of bodystyles, both the entry-level EV4s will get a decent 0-100 KM/H time of 7.4 seconds.

Go for the mid-spec model and you’ll end up with a larger and more usable 81.4-kWh unit, although the extra weight slows down its century sprint time by a mere 0.3 seconds. In return, the larger-battery EV4 gets healthier maximum range figures of up to 630 KM on the fastback and 590 KM on the hatch, provided you spec them with 17-inch rolling stocks.
Although no charging speed figures were shared, Kia claims the smaller-battery EV4 can be juiced up in about 29 minutes, while the larger unit gets to the same state-of-tune slightly longer at 31 minutes. While these figures sound alright, they are pale in comparison to the Kia’s 800-volt EV models like the Kia EV6 and EV9.

Also revealed during the show was the interior details for the EV4, where both the fastback and hatch models get the same 30-inch triple display setup comprising a main central infotainment unit, a fully digital instrument cluster, and a third display for the climate control. Besides the usual mobile wireless connectivity, Kia also promises the EV4’s infotainment to come standard with video streaming services like YouTube, Netflix, and Disney+, as well as gaming capabilities.
While both models share the same wheelbase, the quirky-looking fastback continues to be a more favourable choice of the two, thanks to its larger 490-litre boot space compared to the hatch’s 435-litre cargo bed.

Sales for the new Kia EV4 fastback are set to commence in March this year in native South Korea, while the Europe-bound hatch version will follow suit later in the second half of the year. Beyond these two markets, the EV4 will also be making its way to the US, with no news of its availability in the Asia-Pacific region, at least for now.
