Hari Raya 2025: Over 140K Vehicles Expected Daily on WCE
![]()
Over 140,000 vehicles are expected to use the WCE daily during this upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri festive season.
The West Coast Expressway (WCE) is set to experience a significant surge in traffic during the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration, as over 140,000 vehicles are expected to use the highway daily during this festive period.
According to WCE’s General Manager of Strategic Communications and Stakeholder Engagement, Syed Mohammed Idid, this increase is due to the growing reliance on WCE as a key alternative route.
"Before the opening of Section 6 (Asam Jawa) on 20 November 2023, WCE’s daily traffic stood at approximately 60,000 vehicles. Since the full alignment in Perak became operational, this figure has increased to 70,000 vehicles daily. With the festive season approaching, we anticipate more than 140,000 vehicles per day, particularly along the main route from Taiping Selatan to Banting," he said in an official statement.

Syed Mohammed Idid also noted that as of Feb 2025, 95% of the WCE project has been completed, with several key sections already opened to enhance connectivity and facilitate smoother travel. The two newly opened sections of the WCE are:
- Section 1 (12.5 KM) – Connecting Banting to SKVE, opened on 31 August 2024
- Section 2 (7.2 KM) – Connecting SKVE to KESAS, opened on 22 January 2025
In preparation for the festive traffic, WCE advises motorists to plan their journeys in advance, stay updated with real-time traffic information, and adhere to road safety regulations to ensure a safe and smooth travel experience. To ease travellers, the Sungai Nyior Rest & Service Area (R&R) along Section 11 (Taiping) is now open for both northbound and southbound motorists.
For the latest traffic updates and travel advisories, users can refer to WCE’s official social media channels and website, or alternatively download the WCE mobile app.
