Hari Raya 2024: WCE Expects 150,000 Cars From 6 To 17 April, 2024
West Coast Motorway (WCE) estimated an average traffic flow of 150,000 vehicles daily during the upcoming Hari Raya holidays. This mass exodus is set to start tomorrow, April 6, as Malaysians return to their hometowns for a long holiday.
To guarantee smooth traffic flow, all construction and maintenance work involving highway lane closures would be halted until April 17, with the exception of emergency repairs. Furthermore, rescue vehicles such as tow trucks would be strategically placed at multiple locations to help in traffic incidents.
Additional support staff and Emergency Response Teams (ERT), as well as WCE patrol officers along the roadway, are ready to respond in the event of an emergency.
Although WCE has lay-by areas with restrooms, prayer rooms, and reload self-service kiosks at each toll plaza, there are currently no petrol stations operational. Users should refuel adequately before entering the highway, or top up at nearby petrol stations along WCE exits.
WCE is committed to ensure the safety and comfort of all road users and encourages users to keep their vehicles in excellent operating order and avoid driving when in fatigue. Users are advised to follow traffic regulations, and to ensure that all passengers and children are strapped up.
