The 2025 Motul 12 Hours of Sepang annual endurance race event took place last weekend at the Petronas Sepang International Circuit (SIC).

The 2025 Motul 12 Hours of Sepang endurance race event got underway last weekend at the Petronas Sepang International Circuit (SIC). Organised by Top Speed, this year’s running took place from March 13 to March 15, featuring a packed grid of 11 teams competing using GT3-spec machines across several competition classes.

The main 12-hour endurance race itself was flagged off on Saturday morning at 10:15AM under clear skies. Standing as one of the region’s most grueling and highly competitive GT3 endurance event, Saturday’s race saw plenty of local Malaysian drivers and teams shine in a race jampacked full of battles for the lead and class positions throughout.

The main event - a 12-hour enduro - was flagged off on Saturday morning at 10:15AM.

Taking the checkered flag in first place overall was local Malaysian ace Jazeman Jaafar. The 32-year-old was roped in as the lead driver alongside Chinese nationals Jason Loh, Lu Kailuo, and Chen Weian in the distinct and eye-catching Garfield-liveried #33 33R Harmony Racing Ferrari 296 GT3 race machine.

The win didn’t come easy for Jazeman and the Chinese team he raced for on Saturday, and that’s despite their joint effort in securing pole position in Qualifying held on Friday. Nevertheless, the home race advantage proved unbeatable for Jazeman who delivered the winning drive in his and the team's final stint.

Taking the overall win was local ace Jazeman Jaafar. The 32-year-old Malaysian driver drove in a distinct and eye-catching Garfield-liveried Ferrari 296 GT3 for 33R Harmony Racing.

“I’m still lost for words! This was probably one of the toughest races I’ve done. When the team gave me the final stint, I had to chase for the win from third place, and I only managed to secure the race lead with 15 minutes to spare!” recounted Jazeman when we spoke to him post-race.

The win perhaps was the perfect end to a brilliant weekend for Jazeman who also took part in a special pre-race publicity stunt where he lapped the 5.5 KM-long SIC in a Bugatti Bolide track-only hypercar belonging to the JPM Museo – one of just 40 worldwide, and the sole unit based in the Asian region.

Jazeman wasn't the only Malaysian on the podium as he was joined by local veteran Adrian D'Silva who placed second overall.

Saturday’s win charted by Jazeman, Loh, Lu and Chen also capped off a near perfect weekend for the 33R Harmony Racing team, with their effort also doubling as the first ever outright win scored by a Ferrari GT3 race machine in Asia.

Besides Jazeman, other local drivers and talents also shined throughout the weekend. It included local veteran Adrian D'Silva who placed second overall with co-drivers Loek Hartog and Dorian Boccolacci from the Malaysia-based EBM (Earl Bamber Motorsport) team despite being bogged down by a puncture in their earlier stint.

Fortune also favoured local privateers Viper Niza Racing Team last weekend as their driving trio of Douglas Khoo, Dominic Ang and Melvin Moh placed sixth overall and clinched the GT AM Masters class win.

Good fortune also blessed local privateers Viper Niza Racing Team and their veteran driving trio of Douglas Khoo, Dominic Ang and Melvin Moh. Together, the outfit placed sixth overall with their Mercedes-AMG GT3, and the effort saw them named GT AM Masters class winners and runners up in the GT AM class.

“It’s a great start to the year and we hope to keep this momentum going when we take on the remaining races planned for the season,” said lead driver and Team Principal Khoo who also dedicated the class win to the team’s crew of 15 young but experienced local professionals.

With last weekend’s 2025 Motul Sepang 12 Hours done and dusted, the Viper Niza Racing Team will now shift their focus on their international competition campaign which includes competing in key European endurance race events plus the Shanghai 8 Hours in Oct.

Not to be missed out too was 38-year-old Leona Chin. The lone female entrant in this year's event won in the GTC class with her co-drivers from 610 Racing.

Last but not least, lady driver Leona Chin Lyweoi didn’t miss out on a trophy too. The 38-year-old was the only female entrant this year racing in the #911 Porsche 911 GT3 machine fielded by 610 Racing team in the GTC Class.

Together with co-drivers Sunny Wong Yat Shing, Yan Chunag, and Peter Li Zhicong, Leona placed 11th overall as the checkered flag waved, winning the GTC Class honours at the same time too.

“Thank you to the teams, we are very happy with how much action we have had on track today, and the cooperation off track. Thank you also to our partners in Motul and Pirelli, who we would not have been able to do this without," expressed a delighted Davide de Gobbi, MD of Top Speed, after handing out the trophies and prizes on Saturday evening.
