2025 Audi A6 Sedan Debuts as a Sleek Midsize Luxury Saloon

Audi has just debuted its new sixth-gen Audi A6 sedan, featuring three ICE powertrain flavours and tons of amenities.
Following its teaser last week, German carmaker Audi has peeled off the wraps from its new midsize luxury sedan, the 2025 Audi A6 Sedan. For its sixth-gen iteration, the new A6 saloon comes in three combustion powertrain options while harbouring tons of tech and luxury amenities inside.

We’ll start with its design, as the A6 sedan looks very similar to its wagon twin, which debuted last month. Besides its conventional three-box sedan bodystyle, the A6 sedan gets the same design cues as the A6 Avant, including the sharp digital LED headlights with multiple light signatures, a new hexagonal front grille design with honeycomb inserts, slim OLED taillights with a full-width light bar, and wheel options ranging from 18 to 21 inches, including special 21-inch Audi Sport forged rims.

Keen eyes will notice that the new A6 sedan gets some aero-optimised design cues, including flushed door handles, the sleek roofline, an active shutter grille with a front spoiler, and even underfloor covers with air channels. These bits combined to deliver a decently low drag coefficient of only 0.23 Cd, thus making it the most aerodynamic combustion-powered Audi ever made.

Dimension-wise, the new A6 sedan grows by 60 MM compared to its predecessor, spanning 4,999 MM long, 1,875 MM wide, 1,472 MM tall, and a wheelbase of 2,923 MM. Despite its slight growth spurt, the new A6 is still behind its fierce German rival, the G60-gen BMW 5 Series, which now measures over five metres in length.

On board, the new A6 sedan gets the same front dash setup as any other newer Audi models, featuring a curved OLED screen setup that includes an 11.9-inch Audi virtual cockpit instrument cluster with a head-up display (HUD) plus a larger 14.5-inch central infotainment display with ChatGPT AI integration. Buyers can also opt for a third 10.9-inch front passenger screen if the dual-screen setup isn’t enough for them.

Typical of any Audi saloon, the new A6 sedan gets tons of upholstery and trim options for the cabin, which includes several new sustainable choices like Dinamica microfibre that is made from 50% recycled polyester. Other tech and comfort amenities primed here include both 16- and 20-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound systems, a four-zone climate system with built-in air ioniser, soft-closing doors, an electrochromic panoramic glass roof, multi-colour ambient lights, and many more.

As of now, the new A6 sedan comes in three powertrain flavours, starting with the baseline 2.0-litre 4-cyl TFSI turbo-petrol engine that outputs 204 PS and 340 NM. Drive is sent to the front wheels (FWD) via a seven-speed S Tronic DCT gearbox that enables a 0-100 KM/H sprint time of 8.2 seconds en route to its 244 KM/H V-max.
Next in line is the 2.0-litre 4-cyl TDI turbodiesel mill rated at 204 PS and 400 NM, which runs on an Atkinson cycle and integrates a 48-volt mild hybrid (MHEV) setup—the latter provides an extra 24 PS and 230 NM to the saloon. Using the same 7-speed DCT unit plus an optional quattro AWD setup, the oil-burning A6 gets a faster 0-100 KM/H time of 6.8 seconds, or 7.8 seconds for the FWD model.

Sitting atop the new A6’s lineup for now is the 3.0-litre turbo-petrol V6 version, which also integrates an MHEV setup to deliver a total system output of 367 PS and 550 NM. Fitted with the same 7-speed DCT and quattro AWD setup, the V6 variant gets the fastest century sprint time of only 4.7 seconds, while its top speed is electronically limited at 250 KM/H.

Underpinning the same PPC (Premium Platform Combustion) architecture as both the new A5 and A6 Avant, the sixth-gen A6 saloon rides on a five-link front and rear suspension setup, with an option to upgrade to sports suspension. If that’s not enough, the quattro AWD variants can be opted with an adaptive air suspension setup and rear-wheel steering (RWS) for better driving dynamics, while the torque-vectoring rear sport differential only comes standard on the top-spec V6 variant.

The all-new, sixth-gen Audi A6 Sedan will go on sale in its native Germany later this month, with prices starting from €55,500 (RM278,805) onwards. Deliveries will begin later in the summer for the European markets before making their way to other international markets afterwards.
