Face-lifted Hyundai Ioniq 6 Teased, Includes Hot N Model
Korean automaker officially released this image teasing the face-lifted Ioniq 6 range. Look closely and you'll see a 'glimpse' of the upcoming new Ioniq 6 N performance flagship too.
Korean automaker Hyundai revealed four teaser images for its upcoming face-lifted Ioniq 6 ‘streamliner’ EV saloon. From which, we can see several key design tweaks, whilst a closer look also revealed a surprise teaser for a much hotter ‘N’ performance guise too.
Revealed at the Seoul Motor Show happening in South Korea this week, the refreshed Ioniq 6 is said to feature "more refined curves and enhanced proportions for a sleek and beautifully balanced silhouette".
Base Ioniq 6 variant pictured. No official images of its rear-end were released, there's a 'glimpse' of which via a reflection in the teaser image above.
We start with the exterior changes up front, and the face-lifted Ioniq 6 gains a revamped front fascia featuring an all-new split headlight arrangement mirroring what’s seen in the new Sonata. It consists of this LED DRLs above separate main headlight clusters primed in the lower bumper.
No clear images of the rear-end were officially released, but snaps published by Autocar UK shows a heavily revised derriere. The distinct ‘ducktail’ rear spoiler element has been ditched and replaced with a subtler extended boot lip design, and there are reportedly new chrome bumper trims too.
The revised rear aero not only looks cleaner and sharper, Hyundai’s aerodynamic engineers also determined that having one spoiler element instead of two whilst also making the ducktail bigger helped increase overall aerodynamic efficiency for the streamliner-shaped saloon.
Hyundai released only this image of the face-lifted Ioniq 6's cabin. It does show a new steering wheel plus revised controls in the centre console, followed by new door inserts and climate control display.
Moving inside and, based on the sole cabin image provided, tweaks here are subtle to say the least. Included is a redesigned steering wheel as seen in the Ioniq 9 whilst the centre console controls have been revised to improve its ease of use.
Other changes can be seen in the new door trims materials, followed by the enlarged climate control display panel. Apart from this, it appears little else has changed with the cabin, which isn’t bad news entirely.
New to the range is this sporty N Line guise.
Clearer images of the revised rear-end in the sporty new N Line guise obtained by Autocar UK. Note the deletion of the large rear wing element and its cleaner new boot lid extension element that replaces it.
New to the Ioniq 6 range is a sporty new ‘N Line’ guise, and this is easily set apart by its distinct front and rear bumpers set featuring more blacked-out parts, a starkly different split LED taillights cluster, as well as the typical ‘N Line’ silver and black rolling stock.
That aside, another genuinely nice surprise here is a teaser of an even hotter Ioniq 6 N variant. The ‘glimpse’ of its rear-end provided by Hyundai sees a distinctively large rear spoiler, new LED taillight cluster, and a very aggressive rear bumper design.
A closer look at the 'glimpse' of the upcoming new Ioniq 6 N performance flagship variant hidden in the main teaser photo officially put out by the Korean automaker.
Apart from said ‘glimpse’, there’s little to gauge about this upcoming new N-badged performance flagship that’s set to be the newest addition to the Ioniq 6 variant line-up.
And apart from the four official images released, Hyundai elected not to disclose any technical details surrounding battery pack, powertrain choices, or even output and performance figures.
Current (pre-facelift) Ioniq 6 Max AWD variant pictured. This is currently the range-topping guise packing a 321 HP and 605 NM dual-motor setup that sees 0-100 KM/H done in 5.1 secs.
For reference, the pre-facelift Ioniq 6 line-up saw single (rear) and dual-motor setups available juiced by either a 53 kWh or 77.4 kWh battery pack. The most efficient setup yields a WLTP-rated range of up to 614 KM whilst the quickest of the lot despatches 0-100 KM/H sprints in just 5.1 secs.
With the upcoming debut of a new N-badged performance flagship though, expect it to deliver an even quicker century sprint time enabled by even higher output figures – the current dual-motor variant puts out 321 HP and 605 NM.
