Hyundai Rolls Out New Pleos Software

Vehicles today are highly complicated. This trend is likely to continue as new technical features are deployed, such as upgraded infotainment systems, smarter driving assistance technologies, and increased vehicle connectivity. In an effort to keep ahead of the competition, Hyundai Motor Group has unveiled a new internal software division.
Hyundai recently revealed their new software brand, Pleos, at the "Pleos 25" developer conference in Seoul. Pleos, meaning "more operating system", will lead the development of a next-generation infotainment system and accelerate the development of software-defined vehicles.
Pleos, according to the automaker, is a mobility software platform developed to enable autonomous movement and smart management of all moving devices, connects transportation and infrastructure (including cars) to help individuals, businesses, and cities build a more open and efficient mobility ecosystem.

This is achieved through features such as the Pleos Connect infotainment system, cloud-based infrastructure, high-performance computer processors, and a dedicated car operating system.
Created exclusively for software-defined vehicles, the new Hyundai Motor Group Vehicle OS utilizes a modular design, standardized architecture, high-performance computer hardware, and zone-specific controllers.

The Korean multinational automotive manufacturer will launch Pleos Connect, an infotainment system with a smartphone-like user interface, a voice-activated digital assistant and built on the Android Automotive OS, in 2026. They expect to have over 20 million installations by 2030.
In addition, the Pleos Playground features an integrated app market, a plug-and-play platform that allows external developers to create and submit mobile applications easily. These apps can then be downloaded by users and viewed on their car's infotainment screens. The plug-and-play functionality also allows for additional devices to be connected directly to the vehicle.
