JPJ Will Not Be Cowed By Threats From Tontos - Loke

Transport Minister Anthony Loke has issued a stern warning to "tontos" (informants), stating that the Road Transport Department (JPJ) will not be cowed by their threats. These informants, allegedly hired by heavy vehicle operators, have been targeting JPJ enforcement officers, especially during operations focused on such vehicles.
“I want to make it very clear that JPJ officers are authorised enforcement personnel of the government. Anyone who challenges them is essentially challenging the laws of this country.

“These officers are carrying out their duties and will continue to do so bravely, without fear or favour,” he says in a Bernama report.
The minister stated that the government was responsible for maintaining the safety of road users and that sustained enforcement was required, as the frequency of fatal accidents involving heavy vehicles has increased recently. However, Loke added that some parties were dissatisfied with JPJ's increased enforcement efforts and stricter regulations on large vehicles.
