Leapmotor B01 – Brand’s New EV Saloon Teased

Official design sketches of the Leapmotor B01 were released ahead of the model's planned debut at Auto Shanghai 2025.
Chinese upstart EV brand Leapmotor looks set to enter Auto Shanghai 2025 this week and showcase its newest metal pictured. Reportedly christened as the Leapmotor B01, it is poised to debut as the brand’s newest EV saloon offering after the C01 model.
Officially, Leapmotor has elected to release several design sketches as its official teaser. Unofficially, leaked Chinese MIIT (Ministry of Industry and Information Technology) images and details have also made their way onto web ahead of which.

Even in these official sketches, it's evident that the Leapmotor B01 borrows heavy design cues from the larger and lifted Leapmotor B10 crossover SUV.
From both, it’s evidently clear the Leapmotor B01 borrows heavy styling cues from its larger and lifted Leapmotor B10 crossover SUV stablemate. Shared traits also include the narrow LED headlights, full-width LED lightbars up front and in the rear, flushed door handles, and more.
Sources online indicate that two powertrains choices will be offered, both juiced by CALB-supplied LFP battery packs. An entry-level guise is set to see its e-motor boast outputs of up to 177 HP, whereas a higher-end guise will up the ante to 214 HP instead.

Images and detailed leaked from Chinese MIIT filings have also surfaced. Note the possibility of a LiDAR sensor mounted on the roof.
In terms of footprint, leaked MIIT filings indicate that the Leapmotor B01 sits some 4,770 MM long with a 2,735 MM wheelbase, 1,880 MM wide, and 1,490 MM tall. Kerb weight is also reportedly to be anywhere between 1,660 KG and 1,711 KG.
Overall, said dimensions does see the Leapmotor B01 sit somewhat slightly smaller than its C01 cousin mentioned, which measures 5,050 MM long with a 2,930 wheelbase, 1,902 MM wide and 1,515 MM tall.
Though not confirmed still, we can also see what appears to be a LiDAR sensor mounted on the roof. This, along with details surrounding charging speeds and range, weren’t dished out just yet.

Closer inspection again shows the B01 sharing plenty of common design touches as the larger and lifted B10 model mentioned.
Critically, the Leapmotor B01 also appears to be aimed at a market that is less expensive than the brand’s C-series. in fact, the brand’s management also reportedly expressed confidence in shifting more than 40,000 units of the B-series monthly.
As mentioned, we will know for certain once the Leapmotor B01 debuts during Auto Shanghai 2025 this week. In the meantime, what do you folks think of it? Hit the comment below with your take on it…
