BYD Charges Up MOT Staff EV Adoption Effort

BYD Sime Motors has partnered with the Ministry of Transport (MOT) to support the government’s low-carbon mobility goals through a dynamic new initiative called “Jom Pandu BYD Bersama MOT”.
This six-month program, which was recently launched in collaboration with Gentari, allows MOT personnel to test drive BYD’s full EV line-up, experiencing the innovation and benefits of electric mobility first-hand.

To kick things off, a launch ceremony was held at the MOT office in Putrajaya, officiated by Transport Minister Anthony Loke and Jeffrey Gan, MD of Southeast Asia at Sime Motors.
The event was also attended by key figures including YB Datuk Haji Hasbi Bin Habibollah, Datuk Jana Santhiran Muniayan, Adeline Lew, and Shah Yang Razalli from Gentari.

As part of the initiative, BYD Sime Motors will be loaning MOT a full range of its EV offerings - the BYD Sealion 7, Seal, Atto 3 Ultra, M6, and Dolphin. This gives MOT staff a chance to explore the performance, comfort, and everyday practicality of EVs up close.
“This program is a great step toward a cleaner future,” said Jeffrey Gan. He adds that as Malaysia’s No.1 EV brand, BYD is proud to support the Ministry’s mission to reduce carbon emissions. “We believe this immersive experience will drive greater adoption of EVs - both publicly and within government fleets,” adds Gan further.
Gentari, BYD’s charging infrastructure partner, has installed two 22 kW AC chargers at the MOT headquarters. These chargers will be accessible however only to MOT and govt. staffs once it goes live in about a month's time.

Gentari currently operates over 530 EV chargers nationwide, playing a vital role in Malaysia’s push to meet its goal of 10,000 public chargers by 2025, aligned with the National Energy Transition Roadmap.
“Jom Pandu BYD Bersama MOT” isn’t just a test drive campaign isn’t just about test drives - it's also about building real pathways for EV integration into government operations and accelerating the shift to a sustainable transport ecosystem.
Like the saying goes - practise what you preach, hence its best if MOT staff members are in the forefront of EV adoption to set a good example for the general public to follow.
