Loke: Aid Pours in for Putra Heights Gas Explosion Victims
-full_normal.jpg)
Earlier today, Transport Minister YB Anthony Loke announced assistance for victims of the Putra Heights gas explosion are pouring in. The incident displaced 305 families and caused damage to 237 houses and 365 vehicles, including 275 cars and 56 motorcycles.
During his visit to the temporary relief centre at Putra Heights Mosque, Loke stated that Berjaya Group Bhd founder Tan Sri Vincent Tan has pledged RM3,000 in assistance for each affected family.
Efforts are also underway to secure free motorcycles for over 70 victims. Discussions are ongoing with various stakeholders, along with outreach to more companies for additional vehicle support.

Loke emphasised that these contributions are part of ongoing efforts to support the victims. The Transport Ministry continues to engage private companies for donations, essential supplies, and transportation aid.
“So far, we have received strong support from the private sector, and I hope more corporations will step forward,” he added.
Yesterday, automaker Chery Malaysia committed to loaning 50 vehicles to support both relief teams and impacted families. Similarly, online used car platform Carro also pledged to loan 30 cars for victims.

Both Chery and Carro vehicle loan registrations will be handled by the Selangor Investment, Trade, and Mobility Exco Office, led by Ng Sze Han. Affected individuals in need of a vehicle can sign up through them.
Meanwhile, Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana), through its Prasarana Prihatin programme, has also stepped in by providing six Rapid KL On-Demand vans free of charge.

The door-to-door shuttle service will start tomorrow and will continue until the situation stabilises. It will operate between the temporary relief centre at Putra Heights Mosque Hall and surrounding residential areas, including Putra Heights, Kampung Puchong Tengah, and Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru.

Additionally, starting today, the Road Transport Department (JPJ) will set up mobile counters at the Putra Heights gas pipeline explosion site for two days to assist affected residents with services such as document printing, said Loke.
The ministry is also in the process of arranging for representatives from the General Insurance Association of Malaysia (PIAM) to be on-site to provide consultations for the victims.
