Putra Heights Gas Pipeline Fire: What We Know So Far
![]()
Petronas Dagangan Bhd (PDB) has clarified that viral videos circulating on social media about a fire incident in Putra Heights, Puchong, did not occur at any of its retail fuel stations.
However, as a precaution, three nearby Petronas stations - PS Putra Heights, PS KM2 LDP, and PS Putra Bestari - have been temporarily closed. Customers can however go to alternative stations in PS USJ 20, PS USJ 6, and PS USJ 9.
PDB assured the public that it is working closely with all relevant parties to uphold safety standards for the community, environment, and personnel.

Earlier today, Petronas confirmed that a fire broke out at Petronas Gas Bhd’s (PGB) main pipeline near Putra Heights at 8:10 AM. The affected 500-meter gas pipeline section has been isolated, and relevant authorities have been notified.

Meanwhile, 112 victims were reported injured with 49 receiving treatment at the makeshift medical base while 63 were rushed to Putrajaya and Serdang Hospital. Medical personnel are closely monitoring their conditions.

The Department of Environment (DOE) has also deployed a team to assess air quality near the affected site. Director-General Datuk Wan Abdul Latiff Wan Jaffar advised the public to avoid the area until further notice. Official updates will be provided once more information is gathered.
According to the Fire and Rescue Department, the pipeline's internal pressure has been reduced from 40 Bar to 0.1 Bar. Authorities are allowing the remaining gas to burn out to prevent further hazards.

Ground Zero - remaining bas being burnt out
The Smart Selangor Operation Centre (SSOC) has confirmed that the fire has spread to Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru, damaging several houses. In total 190 houses, 275 cars and 56 motorcycles were damaged.

The main gas pipeline has been shut off, but residual gas is still burning. Several houses caught fire; the exact number is still under investigation. Rescue operations are ongoing for individuals trapped inside. Evacuated victims have been relocated to PPS Dewan Serbaguna Masjid Putra Heights. Some victims are awaiting medical assistance for burn injuries.
Authorities are monitoring the situation closely and will provide further updates. Residents are urged to remain calm and avoid the affected areas.
UPDATE:
PLUS Malaysia - stretch between Seafield and Bandar Saujana Putra is now closed to all vehicles for safety reasons. Southbound motorists are being diverted to Plaza Tol Seafield and can re-enter the highway via Plaza Tol Bandar Saujana Putra. Northbound motorists must exit at Plaza Tol Bandar Saujana Putra and re-enter via Plaza Tol Seafield. Additionally, all entry points to the ELITE Highway from Plaza Tol USJ and Putra Heights are closed until further notice.
