smart #5 Brabus Unveiled as the Brand’s Most Powerful EV Yet
The smart #5 EV SUV gains a new top-spec Brabus variant, featuring a dual-motor setup rated at up to 637 HP.
It’s been more than half a year since smart unveiled its largest model to date, the smart #5, and we’re finally getting the hottest version of this rugged EV SUV, the smart #5 Brabus. Unveiled at the ongoing Milan Design Week, this Brabus-badged EV SUV is also the most powerful smart model to date, thanks to its 637 HP-rated (475 kW) dual-motor AWD setup.
Thanks to its 637 HP-rated motor setup, the #5 Brabus can get from 0-100 KM/H in just 3.8 seconds.
While its power output is the same as the non-Brabus AWD variant of the #5 in China, the hotter variant does get a faster century sprint time of 3.8 seconds, which is identical to the #1 Brabus despite being much larger and heavier of the two.
Despite its blistering accelerating performance, the #5 Brabus still gets a pretty respectable maximum EV range, with smart claiming the 100-kWh NMC battery unit is enough to provide this hot EV SUV up to 540 KM of WLTP range. Similarly, the NMC pack on the #5 Brabus also supports an 800-volt architecture as its vanilla twin, allowing it to support DCFC at up to 400 kW, which theoretically fills up the battery from 10-80% in just 18 minutes.
On the visual front, the #5 Brabus gets the same nip-tuck as its smaller siblings, featuring a series of sporty Brabus-specific parts and colourways. Key highlights include several red accents on the front spoiler, rear bumper, door mirrors, and the roof, new 21-inch Brabus Monoblock Z alloy wheels, numerous Brabus brandings, and many more.
The Brabus treatment continues as we get inside this hot #5, with all the seats upholstered in unique Dinamica microfibre, laced with tons of Brabus emblems, including ones on the front seats’ headrests. Also primed here are a slew of tech amenities such as the dual 13-inch OLED screens, a smaller digital metre cluster with a head-up display (HUD), a 20-speaker Sennheiser audio system, and multi-colour ambient lights, to name a few.
Order books for the new smart #5 Brabus are now open in selected European markets, with each example priced handsomely at €60,900 (RM301,666). Besides the Old Continent, the #5 Brabus will also be making its inaugural Chinese debut at the upcoming Auto Shanghai 2025 motor show, set to take place later on Apr 23, 2025.
