Selangor's Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has apprehended five men, aged 30 to 45, for suspected diesel fraud involving subsidized fleet cards. The arrests followed a raid yesterday on an illicit storage site in Sri Muda, Section 25, according to state director Mohd Zuhairi Mat Radey.
Bernama reported that the joint operation involving 25 officers from KPDN and the Selangor Police Contingent headquarters resulted in the seizure of a modified prime mover, a van, two bonded trucks carrying intermediate bulk containers (IBC), four canvas trucks, and a 30-ton tanker.
According to Zuhairi, the operation also yielded the recovery of more than 7,000 litres of diesel from 14 IBC tanks, each with a 1,000-liter capacity, as well as tools including motorised pumps and connecting hoses that were allegedly used for illicit diesel extraction and transfer from the unlicensed facility and bonded truck drivers lacking proper documentation.
“The modus operandi involved bonded truck drivers using fleet cards to purchase subsidised diesel at petrol stations around Shah Alam,” he said, adding that the case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961, focusing on identifying individuals, companies and distribution networks involved in the illegal diesel supply chain.
