MAS 2025: Chery Tiggo Cross Previewed – 1.5 HEV & Turbo, ROI Opens

The long-awaited Chery Tiggo Cross makes its Malaysian public debut today, featuring both HEV and turbocharged variants.
Following its initial preview in China last month, Chery Malaysia has finally previewed its upcoming compact SUV crossover model, the Chery Tiggo Cross. Also known as the Chery Tiggo 4 in selected markets, this crossover is about to be Chery Malaysia’s smallest and most affordable model to date, featuring both hybrid (HEV) and turbocharged powertrain options.

In terms of design, the Malaysian-spec Tiggo Cross looks very similar to both its Indonesian and Thai counterparts, where it is based on the facelifted Tiggo 4 Pro model previewed in China back in 2024. Some key design highlights include sharp LED headlights flanking its diamond-studded front grille, a through-type LED taillight with striking light signatures, 17- or 18-inch alloy wheel options, and many more.
Dimension-wise, the Tiggo Cross measures 4,318 MM long, 1,831 MM wide, 1,665 MM tall, and with a wheelbase of 2,610 MM, which puts it in the same category as other subcompact SUV crossovers like the Honda WR-V, Perodua Ativa, and Mazda CX-3.

Onboard amenities also look roughly similar to the ones we saw in China, with key highlights including a dual 20.5-inch display that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, multi-colour ambient lights, six-way power-adjustable front seats with heated and ventilated functions, dual-zone climate control with dedicated rear vents, a wireless charger, and many more.

As for the powertrain setups, the Malaysian-spec Tiggo Cross comes in both HEV and turbocharged ICE versions, with the former using Chery’s new Super Hybrid (CSH) system. As detailed prior, this HEV setup comprises a 1.5-litre 4-cyl nat-asp petrol engine rated at 97 HP and 118 NM and a 3-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT) that incorporates an electric motor rated at 201 HP and 310 NM—good enough for a 9.6-second century sprint time.
Combined with its small 1.83-kWh battery pack, the Tiggo Cross HEV promises to deliver a pretty impressive fuel economy rate of 5.4 litres per 100 km, or 19 km per litre, while its combined range is capped at up to 1,000 km.
As for the turbocharged variant, it hides a less peppy 1.5-litre 4-cyl turbocharged petrol mill under its hood, which hooks up to a six-speed DCT automatic gearbox to deliver 145 HP and 210 NM to the front wheels (FWD). This setup is good enough for a 0-100 km/h sprint finish of 9.9 seconds, while its fuel economy is only rated at 6.3 litres per 100 km, or 16 km per litre, Chery claims.

In conjunction with its inaugural public debut at MAS 2025, Chery Malaysia has also opened the registration of interest (ROI) for the new Chery Tiggo Cross, where customers can now place a booking on this compact SUV for a RM500 fee. Deliveries for the first 500 units of the Tiggo Cross are expected to commence as early as August this year, so we can expect to know its exact launch price and warranty details as we get closer to that date.
Those who are keen to size up the new Chery Tiggo Cross up close can visit the Malaysia Autoshow 2025, happening at MAEPS Serdang from May 9 to 15, 2025.
