MAS 2025: MGS5 EV Previewed with Exclusive Early Bird Deal

Following a preview held earlier this year, the Malaysia-spec MGS5 EV is now finally being previewed publicly at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025 (MAS 2025).
Although official pricing has yet to be confirmed, MG Motor Malaysia (SAIC Motor Malaysia) previously announced an estimated starting price of RM115,000 for the all-electric B-segment SUV.
To mark the occasion, MG Motor Malaysia also launched an exclusive early bird package during MAS 2025. Through which, customers placing a RM500 booking fee will receive benefits such as savings worth 10 times the booking amount.

Besides that, MG Motor Malaysia will also throw in a complimentary 7 kW Wallbox AC charger to support convenient home charging.
The launch was attended by representatives from the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics & IoT Institute (MARii), CEO Azrul Reza Aziz and Deputy CEO Ts. Nizmar Mohd Nazar, alongside MG Motor Malaysia’s MD, Emory QiFeng and COO, Lee Wen Hsiang.
The MGS5 EV will be offered in two variants - COM and LUX. The COM variant comes with a choice of two battery options starting with a 49 kWh pack offering up to 340 KM of WLTP range. Above which comes a 62 kWh choice offering up to 430 KM WLTP range instead.

The range-topping LUX variant, meanwhile, is equipped exclusively with the larger 62 kWh battery pack as the second COM variants detailed - it even shares the same 430 KM claimed WLTP range figure too.
The LUX model brings more premium features, including 18-inch alloy wheels, panoramic sunroof, power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated leather steering wheel, wireless charging pad, six-speaker audio suite, powered tailgate and a 360-degree parking camera.
Additionally, all variants adopt a rear-mounted e-motor plus rear-wheel-drive (RWD) setup, the former delivering 168 HP and 250 NM. Shared across the board in the ability to draw in 7 kW AC charging inputs, whilst DC charging speeds stands at 120 kW (COM) and 150 kW (LUX) instead.

Both variants feature LED headlights with a distinctive ‘Racing Flag’ DRL signature and MG’s Arch Taillights. Inside, there’s a 12.8-inch infotainment screen with built-in voice command plus both wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, as well as a 10.25-inch interactive digital instrument panel.
Sitting 4,476 MM long with a 2,730 MM wheelbase, 1,849 MM wide, and 1,621 MM tall, the MGS5 EV’s dimensions closely rivals the likes of the BYD Atto 3 and Honda e:N1 - the latter Japanese offering is set to enter our market shortly after MAS 2025 concludes, in fact.

Boot space stands at 542 litres, expandable up to 1,441 litres with the underfloor storage included. The MGS5 EV also offers Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, allowing users to power external devices directly from the car.
The SUV uses an ultra-thin horizontal battery design to optimise cabin space and achieve a low centre of gravity. MG also highlights its adaptive pressure control system that helps extend battery life and improve safety.
The MGS5 EV will be offered in five exterior colours - White, Monument Silver, Camden Grey, Dynamic Red, and Elegant Latte.
