RM350m Allocated For Federal Road Maintenance Projects This Year
The government has allocated RM350 million in 2025 for the maintenance of 563 federal roads in Peninsular Malaysia, according to Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.
Of this allocation, RM275 million is designated for routine pavement maintenance, while RM75 million will fund non-pavement related projects.
Contracts are being granted via a ballot system exclusively for G1 to G4 category contractors to expedite maintenance and aid smaller firms, Bernama has reported.
Ahmad Maslan guaranteed that authorities have thoroughly vetted all contractors involved in the balloting process. This scrutiny, he says, aims to ensure timely and problem-free project completion.
The ministry considers these shortlisted contractors capable, and all participants receive equal opportunity. “ and we are confident that they can complete the task given. So, I feel there is no issue about contractors not being able to do the job, even if there is, they may be isolated cases.”
To promote wider participation, Ahmad Maslan stated that contractors who participated in the previous year's program cannot participate this year. He also guaranteed a fair online voting system and open results.
"The results are available online for contractors to view, and the voting process is conducted fairly."
