BYD Atto 3 Surpasses 1 Million-Unit Milestone Globally

The cumulative sales volume for the BYD Atto 3 EV SUV has surpassed the 1 million-unit mark globally.
It’s been more than three years since the BYD Atto 3 hit the market, and the popular EV SUV has just reached its 1 million-unit cumulative sales volume milestone worldwide. Also known as the Yuan Plus in China, it took BYD roughly three years and nine months, or exactly 1,391 days, to reach this milestone.
This also translates to 30 units sold per hour, 719 cars per day, 5,032 units per week, or 20,129 units per month.

Part of this success is due to the vast availability of the Atto 3, which is currently on sale in more than 110 markets worldwide—Malaysia included. Despite its popularity globally, the bulk of the Atto 3’s sales came from its home ground, with more than 300,000 units sold within the first 14 months since its debut in Feb 2022.
Surprisingly, the Atto 3 is not the only BYD EV to reach this remarkable milestone, as the BYD Seagull compact hatch reached the same milestone earlier this month. Other BYD models that have already reached the same milestone include the Song and Qin—both of which are available in either battery electric (BEV) or plug-in hybrid (PHEV) forms.

Facelifted 2025 BYD Atto 3 (Yuan Plus) unveiled in China earlier this year.
As it enters the fourth production year in 2025, the Atto 3 was recently given a mid-life refresh in China, featuring some slight design changes and the new BYD ‘God’s Eye C’ ADAS suite. The facelifted Atto 3 currently retails from CNY 115,800 to CNY 147,800 (RM69,043 to RM88,122) in China, where it has yet to debut in other overseas markets.

Malaysian-spec 2025 BYD Atto 3 Ultra
In Malaysia, the Atto 3 is currently available in a single Ultra variant, which packs the same 60.48 kWh ‘Blade’ LFP battery pack as the long-range variant that promises up to 420 KM of WLTP range while supporting AC 7 kW and DC 88 kW charging methods. Power is provided by the same 204 PS (150 kW) and 310 Nm-rated front electric motor that propels the car from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds.
Priced to compete against the likes of other newer EV crossovers, the BYD Atto 3 Ultra retails at RM123,800 sans registration and insurance costs. Included with said price is a six-year or 150,000 KM base vehicle warranty, an eight-year or 160,000 KM EV battery warranty, and an eight-year or 150,000 KM EV drive unit warranty.
