KTMB Adds 11,340 Extra ETS Seats for Aug - Sept Holidays
KTMB is rolling out two extra ETS trips daily on the KL Sentral–Padang Besar route to cater to the travel surge expected during the second-term school holidays and several national celebrations, including Merdeka, Maulidur Rasul and Malaysia Day.
In a statement, KTMB said the additional services will operate over 18 days across three travel windows: Aug 28 to Sept 1, Sept 5 to 7 and Sept 12 to 21. Tickets will be available for purchase starting 10 AM tomorrow.
The extra trips will offer 630 seats daily, including business class, adding up to 11,340 seats over the entire period.
The southbound ETS will depart Padang Besar at 11.05AM and arrive at KL Sentral by 4.30PM, while the northbound service will leave KL Sentral at 5PM and reach Padang Besar at 10.20PM.
KTMB said the move aims to ease travel congestion during the period and encourage travellers to opt for public transport instead of private vehicles.
It also supports Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s recent announcement of an extra public holiday on Sept 15, and reflects KTMB’s commitment to a smoother and more comfortable travel experience.
Travellers are encouraged to plan ahead to enjoy better fares and avoid last-minute congestion. KTMB reminded passengers to arrive at least 30 minutes before departure, as ticket gates will close five minutes before the train leaves.
Tickets can also be booked through the new and improved KITS Style mobile app.
