Launched: Lexus RX 500h F Sport Special Edition — RM512,888

The all-new Lexus RX 500h F Sport Special Edition made a surprise debut in Malaysia, priced at RM512,888.
Lexus Malaysia has silently debuted a new limited edition of its midsize SUV, known as the Lexus RX 500h F Sport Special Edition. This limited-edition RX SUV is priced at RM512,888, making it RM4,000 more expensive than the standard RX 500h F Sport, which currently retails at RM508,888.
Announced via their official Facebook page and website, the Special Edition is limited to only 50 units, where it gains some exclusive design bits and equipment over the standard RX 500h F Sport.

For starters, it gains a new Titanium Carbide Gray exterior colourway, plus the exclusive Black Sport Package. The latter includes several piano black-hued accents, including on both the front and rear bumpers, as well as the side skirt.

Topping off the exterior makeover are the special puddle lights that project the F Sport logo to the ground and the new 21-inch matte black alloy wheels with a revised five-spoke design.

On board, the Special Edition RX comes standard with the F Sport Dark Aluminium trim, matched by the dark-hued suede upholstery with Kageri L-pattern embossing for its ventilated and powered front seats.

Other key equipment primed here includes the three-spoke F Sport leather steering wheel, a 14-inch central infotainment screen with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, a smaller 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a digital rearview mirror, a 21-speaker Mark Levinson audio system, and many more.

Power is still provided by the same 2.5-litre turbo-hybrid powertrain setup as the standard RX 500h F Sport.
Beneath the hood, the Special Edition RX gets the same hybrid (HEV) powertrain setup as the standard RX 500h F Sport model, featuring a 2.5-litre 4-cyl T24A-FTS turbocharged petrol engine that delivers 271 HP and 460 Nm. The electrification assist comes in the form of a front-mounted e-motor rated at 86 HP and 292 Nm, plus a separate e-motor at the rear axle that serves up 102 HP and 169 Nm to make up its Direct4 all-wheel drive (AWD) system.
Combined with its six-speed automatic transmission, the Special Edition RX boasts a total system output of 366 HP and 550 Nm, allowing for a rapid century sprint time of 6.2 seconds. For better manoeuvrability, it also comes with a rear-wheel steering (RWS) system that can turn up to four degrees.

Besides the same hybrid powertrain setup, Lexus Malaysia also says that the Special Edition RX rides on an upgraded suspension setup. Although not many details were shared, we suspect that this special model comes with Lexus’ proprietary Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) system, which is already available in the standard RX 500h F Sport.
Last but not least, there is no mention of the warranty packages available on the new Lexus RX 500h F Sport Special Edition, but we expect it to get the same packages as its standard twin, which include a 5-year, unlimited mileage warranty coverage, plus a separate 8-year, unlimited mileage warranty for its hybrid battery pack.
