Police Investigating Viral Video Of Cars Blocking Traffic On PLUS Highway
Rembau police have launched an investigation after a viral TikTok video showed three cars blocking traffic on the southbound PLUS Highway near the Pedas-Linggi R&R area.
According to Rembau District Police Chief, Superintendent Hasani Hussain, the case is being probed under Section 279 of the Penal Code for reckless or dangerous driving, which carries a penalty of up to six months in jail, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both.
The offenders may also be charged under Section 341 of the Penal Code for obstructing public movement, an offence punishable by up to one month in jail, a fine of up to RM1,000, or both.
In addition, they may face action under Section 48 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing unnecessary obstruction with a vehicle, which carries a fine between RM1,000 and RM5,000 and may include a driving licence suspension of up to 12 months.
“The police take such acts very seriously, especially on high-speed highways where any obstruction poses a real risk to lives,” Hasani said. “This kind of behaviour isn’t just illegal—it could lead to fatal accidents.”
The public is urged to assist in the investigation. Those with information are urged to contact Insp. Noor Fathiah Ak’Dilah (Criminal Investigation Officer) at 010-582 5384, Sgt. Siti Nur Balqes Abdul Rahim (Traffic Investigation Officer) at 019-799 2519 Or the Rembau District Police Operations Room at 06-685 1999.
