30 Kindergarten Kids, Teachers Involved In Bus Crash; JPJ To Launch Audit
The Road Transport Department (JPJ) will conduct a full safety audit on the bus operator involved in a crash that injured several kindergarten kids and a teacher near Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Serdang.
JPJ Director-General Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli confirmed the audit under the department’s Safety Inspection and Audit (JISA) framework following the incident, which took place on Saturday.
“Yes, we’ve received the report. The case is currently being investigated by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM),” he told Sinar Harian on Sunday.
“JPJ will proceed with the audit and take further action once we receive the findings.” FB/ Kulim Media TV.
The crash occurred around 12:18 PM on Persiaran Universiti 1, when a bus carrying 30 kindergarten kids and five teachers from PASTI Ampang reportedly lost control and veered off the road, slamming into a tree.
The group was reportedly en route from a chocolate factory visit to the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park (MAEPS) in Serdang.
According to Serdang District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Muhamad Farid Ahmad, the driver, a 44-year-old local man, was believed to have lost control of the vehicle.
“The cause of the accident was the driver's lack of rest. It is believed he dozed off while driving along the stretch of road

“However, preliminary screening showed that he was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol," he says, adding that the individual has 13 previous summonses under his name.
The bus driver has since been detained for investigation under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987, which covers reckless or dangerous driving.
