JPJ Seizes Three Buses Running On Expired Road Tax, Permits
Three stage buses carrying passengers, including tourists, were seized after the Kuala Lumpur Road Transport Department (JPJ) found them operating with expired documents during a recent enforcement operation.
Checks revealed that not only had the buses’ road tax lapsed, but their mandatory PUSPAKOM inspection certificates had also expired as far back as May and June.
To make matters worse, all three vehicles were running with Motor Vehicle Licences (LKM) that had not been renewed since April and June 2025.
Kuala Lumpur JPJ director Hamidi Adam said the discovery was alarming given that the buses were ferrying passengers in busy city areas.
“These offences are very dangerous because they involve public transport carrying passengers, including tourists, in the heart of the city. JPJ will not compromise with any operator who ignores the law,” he stressed.
Hamidi confirmed that all drivers were locals, and summonses were issued to both the drivers and vehicle owners under the Road Transport Act 1987.
“JPJ takes non-compliance seriously, especially when it involves vehicles entrusted with passenger safety,” he said, adding that daily enforcement will continue to safeguard the integrity of the public transport system.
He also urged the public to play a role by reporting errant operators through the MyJPJ app’s e-Aduan feature or via the official email (aduantrafik@jpj.gov.my).
