Xiaomi Picks Europe For First EV Launch In 2027
Xiaomi has confirmed Europe as the first overseas market for its electric vehicles (EVs), with a launch slated for 2027.
The announcement came from company president Lu Weibing during an earnings call, ending speculation about where the Chinese tech giant would expand beyond its home market.
Hints surfaced earlier when Lu shared a photo of the SU7 Ultra with German licence plates, but now the plan is official. Xiaomi is currently in the research and preparation stage as it gears up for Europe’s competitive EV market. .jpg)

Since launching its first model, the SU7 sedan, in March 2024, Xiaomi has delivered over 300,000 EVs.
Momentum has been strong from 27,307 units in Q2 2024 to 81,302 units in Q2 2025. Its first SUV, the YU7, made waves with 240,000 orders in just 18 hours.
Financially, Xiaomi is also surging. Q2 2025 revenue climbed 30.5% year-on-year to 116 billion yuan (MYR68 billion). Its new initiatives segment, covering EVs and AI, grew 234% to 21.3 billion yuan (MYR12.5 billion). .jpg)
Losses from these ventures narrowed to 300 million yuan (MYR176 million), improving from 500 million yuan (MYR294 million) in Q1.
With its SU7 Ultra drawing attention after a record-setting Nürburgring run in Germany, Xiaomi is positioning itself as more than just another budget EV player.

But the big question for Malaysia remains. When will it arrive here? With local roads already crowded by Chinese EV brands, Xiaomi would surely find eager fans waiting.
