Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Becomes First Chinese Car & EV To Enter Gran Turismo 7

We are now truly in the era of Chinese electric cars. The latest proof reflecting which comes from the renowned Gran Turismo 7 driving simulator gaming title and its upcoming inclusion of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra.

The highly lauded and hyped Porsche Taycan rival’s entry into the signature and staple Sony Playstation-exclusive title was announced by its developers Polyphony Digital. The model will be made available to players virtually via an upcoming update.

This also puts the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra as the first car of Chinese origin and the first Chinese electric vehicle (EV) model to be featured in the world-famous driving sim title.

“In the rapidly developing Chinese automotive industry, we saw Xiaomi, a new manufacturer, move from smartphones to appliances, to wearable devices, creating a smart ecosystem that covers every aspect of daily life, and the most important piece of that, the car, creating the SU7,” said Kazunori Yamauchi, CEO of Polyphony Digital and producer of the Gran Turismo series.

“Then at the same time, creating the SU7 Ultra Prototype and seeing them break the record on the legendary Nürburgring, I was deeply moved by their courage, inquisitiveness, passion, and the industriousness to make it all happen. I have sincere respect for them” added Yamauchi, also known as ‘Kaz’, further.

The Xioami SU7 Ultra revealed back in July 2024 stands as a more extreme iteration of the tech giant's first EV model that debuted in Nov 2023.

As a refresher, the Xiaomi SU7 four-door EV sportscar first debuted back in Nov 2023. After which came the more extreme SU7 Ultra version revealed in July 2024. In this guise, said fastback benefits with a tri-motor setup outputting 1,547 HP and 1,770 NM of torque, and it is juiced by a sizeable 93.7 kWH NMC-type battery.

Altogether, this enables the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra to despatch 0-100 KM/H sprints in just 1.98 secs before hitting a claimed V-max of about 350 KM/H. Aptly, in Ultra form, this Chinese EV rivals directly against the Porsche Taycan Turbo S.

“The Gran Turismo series is world famous for providing the highest level of quality and experiences, so I am very happy that the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra will be featured in Gran Turismo,” commented Lei Jun, director of Xiaomi Group.

Gran Turismo 7 players will soon be able to virtually sample the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra when it arrives in-game via an update patch. After which, both Xiaomi and developers Polyphony Digital will collaborate further for a Vision Gran Turismo concept.

As mentioned, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra will be made available for players to experience virtually in Gran Turismo 7 via an upcoming update.
