Aston Martin have just released a sharpened new iteration of its DB12 flagship 'super-tourer' called the DB12 S.

British luxury supercars  marque Aston Martin took the wraps of its sharpened new DB12 S earlier today. Like the DBX S and Vantage S, the newly added variant benefits with a power bump plus a slew of technical upgrades to make it a sharper-driving proposition.

Straight into the changes starting with powertrain and the Mercedes-AMG-sourced 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo mill gets a 20 hp bump to 690 hp, but torque is unchanged at 800 Nm. The increased power does see 0-100 km/h dashes done quicker at 3.4 secs, whilst V-max remains at 325 km/h.

Under the hood, the Mercedes-AMG-sourced 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo has been beefed up to 690 hp.

Part of the improved acceleration stems from the optimised Launch Control system with gearshift times reduced by over 50%. Engineers even fine-tuned the throttle calibration, but the icing on this powertrain’s cake has to be the enhanced soundtrack it boasts.

The latter can even be amplified by up to 1.5 dB thanks to a new optional stainless steel exhaust system. Speaking of, this new S version is also easily distinguished by its quad-pipe exhaust arrangement too – you’ll find just two exhaust tips in the regular DB12.

New too is the quad-exhaust arrangement, as well as an optional stainless steel exahust system that's 1.5dB louder than stock too.

Elsewhere, chassis tweaks performed were all aimed at enhancing “sense of agility”, cornering confidence and overall balance. Included here are new damper tuning, a stiffer rear anti-roll bar, not forgetting specially recalibrated electric power steering.

Over on to visual changes and, besides the quad exhaust mentioned, the S brings a new front splitter, newly added bonnet scoops, as well as a fixed rear spoiler. Altogether, these help elevate the stance of the DB12 S further from the regular DB12 model mentioned.

Besides the S badge and aforementioned quad-exhaust, the DB12 S also gains a new front splitter, bonnet vents, as well as a fixed rear spoiler added.

Changes continue on board with new details like red drive controller, red seatbelts, as well as red pipe stitching motif. There are new S-badges embroidered into the headrests too. As for upholstery choices, it includes full leather, semi-aniline or Alcantara.

Typically, Aston Martin will offer the DB12 S is both hard-topped coupe (pictured) and open-topped roadster forms. The automaker says deliveries are slated to begin early next year, though prices for the this sharpened new range-topper weren’t released yet.

On board, note the new red drive selector, red seatbelts, red pipe-stitching and S-badges embroidery in the seat headrests.

Regarding the latter, expect it to command a higher starting figure over the regular DB12. As a refresher, the Aston Martin DB12 launched locally some time back with a base starting price of RM1,088,000 excluding options, taxes, duties and insurance.
